If you decide on a pickup instead of a pedal I also recommend the dunables. They make awesome pickups

    Pickup Recs?

yeah always good to double check and can reach out to Jackson. They for sure look the P2 size to me as I have basses with both soapbar types. But good to be on the safer side.

    Pickup Recs?

Those are the bartolini p2 shape. Check bass soapbar demos on youtube and decent amount of manufactures offer in that size. Popular brands that offer that size are Nordstrand, Delano, Aguilar Bartolini and recently EMG. There's a rabbit hole in pickups but I'd say start there. Notably Nordstrand...

    Multicoil with Filter preamp club

Anyone able to compare the old lusithand to the new version or underhill full english? I'm thinking about changing for a more useable frequency spectrum and the treble boost push.

    Fishman Fluence with other preamps

This is two years later but I remembered the thread for some reason. The john east midsweep with fishmans rule. I use the lower band around 500k and the frequencies are kinda close with treble but noticeably different especially with distortion. It is noticeable in a live mix too

    Aluminum Neck Club

Can anyone give me feedback on how the aluminati's feel? Are they closer to p or jazz bass in profile? In the market for a new neck and don't have a aluminum bass one yet. I prefer thinner profiles and really like my baguley 30 scale guitar neck.

    Dunable D-J Jazz Pickups

There are not many that talk about them or have demos without distortion. I just got their pj set and personally love em. Closest comparison I can make is my friend has the noiseless in his jazz and the dunables are louder and a bit more aggressive.

Dingwall Combustion 5 (3 pickups) vs Spector Dimension HP 5

I have a GOC 37, Dingwall NG3, and a legator 37 scale with fishmans. I havent played the spectors but know the regular NS dimensions have fishmans. Personally they are my favorite electronic system and I get a lot more usable tones that cut through with it. The dingwall has the best neck and is...

Delano MM vs stock Stingray MM

    GOC Bass Club

I thought closer to the neck was a natural choice for me. Hard to say if it was a better once. I really like how it sounds in the end. I do like the darkglass a lot more. I don't always use the preamp but it feels more pronounced with the darkglass.

    GOC Bass Club

I just modded mine! I got one of the first batches. Ordered through Instagram. Put in Nova pickups and darkglass pre. Note if thinking of modding the cavity is small thin and the pots are are also a smaller diameter than most standard.

    GOC or HILS basses?

I finally got it all together last night and it's awesome. My pups and pre are miles above the stock. Just note if anyone plans on modding a goc there's very little room in the cavity. I was going to try a trick fish preamp but went with a leftover darkglass because the space. Also pot holes are...

The Frankenbass Club (Moderately modded basses count too!) part 2

I've had this guy as a teenager and ruined it mods then. So why not more? Fender cowpoke or 1994 p bass special. Ended up making it look cleaner from the other stupid stuff I did with it.

    GOC or HILS basses?

I'm trying out nova quad coil pickups this time as I can wire three different coil switches to get p, humbucker, or reverse p options. I have a trick fish preamp I haven't used yet that I thought I could add as well. I bought on a whim because I've been curious about their guitars and headless...

    GOC or HILS basses?

Personally I don't think it sounds bad but it's definitely an easy switch. I am changing electronics because I want a third pickup with a similar output. If it came with a third pickup I'm not sure if I'd switch the preamp right away too.

    GOC or HILS basses?

I just got the GOC and love it. It's construction was perfect out of the box. I love the neck feel and the materials used. Very solid overall. The electronics sound really good too. I like the pickups quite a bit and the preamp is a cheap off brand but it still sounds great.

    Hanging headless guitars

For those wanting to hang their headless guitars I just wanted to post the strap trick. I searched forums, reddit, and was looking at gadgets for like an hour before I thought about physics. I do have strap locks on it and have no worries! Also the new GOC basses rule.

    90s stingray aftermarket preamp?

Anyone know of an aftermarket preamp based off the 90s, 2000s, or modern stingray? All I can find are numerous copy's on the 70s original. I've searched around and can only find the same design with slight variations.

3 Way Toggle or Blend Pot? Pros? Cons?

In a mix I can never hear the tone difference with a blend. The nuance with all other instruments to me and non-bass players I've talked to is not noticeable unless it's full one pickup or both.

Help with Active Pbass adding Darkglass tone capsule

Looking at the pics I can't tell. Usually there are other colored wires for hot/ground/power. The red ones should connect to the battery I can say that. I'd try to find the pickup model and look at emgs diagram. If it's older can also contact them and they usually have really good customer service.

Help with Active Pbass adding Darkglass tone capsule

You'd plug the hot directly to the preamp and connect the ground with the others. You could also check this out. I have it queued for a project down the line. Guitar fetish is out right now but you can probably find on reverb or somewhere...

Combining Fishman Fluence pickups + Darkglass Tone Capsule

Fishman says this with all their pickups. I added an emg presence on a guitar with fishmans and it sounds great. The fishman preamp is nice but a mid touch would be fun. Not a 100% how much the eq really colors the overall sound but id say it would be fun to tryout at least and if you don't like...

I need help choosing a 6 string bass! Yamaha, Dingwall, Ibanez?

I got a 6 string NG3 a couple months ago. It's awesome and I highly recommend. Playability is the best part and it was perfect out of the box. The electronic setup is really versatile too. It has the metal rep but it's far more versatile than one genre even with the darkglass preamp. I also...

are the fishman fluence bass soapbars active voicing similar to emg dc or does it sound different?

You can get close but I'd say the fishmans are bassier in active. Single coil mode gets closer. The voice 1 "passive" kinda sounds like the TWX a bit and the active is something different. There's a ton of videos on youtube nowadays you can check out.

It's the MM spot but in the emg shape and I did get the rotary switch. I got a standard 5-way with the pickup and don't plan on the reverse p though.

    Mama pickups

I actually bought this for a tester squire dimension bass but have been sitting on it for a few months. I'm hoping to install in the next month and can update once I get it going. Not sure if I have the patience or good will to demo all the options though.

Wiring Help: MM humbucker- 2 switches series/parallel & North coil/both/South coil

This guy did it with a stingray- You could also wire through one switch with a two pickup dingwall switch for a north coil, series, parallel, and south coil to save some wiring hassle with a rotary. Edit: Different from exactly what you were asking but pretty close.
