Pick 2 Bands, Let Someone Else Decide Who's Better

But Ginger and Mary Ann (more so) were hot. After Logins and Messina...the only stuff I remember from K. Loggins was El Stink-a-roo. Actually, Loggins and Messina wasn't anything phenomenal, but was tolerable.

Neither. Either is aural torture. The Honey Bees or The Mosquitoes, with Bingo, Bango, Bongo, and Irving..

Pick 2 Bands, Let Someone Else Decide Who's Better

Yes, we've already proclaimed The Nomads the winner. :D Portishead, by virtue of the fact that I don't know Thievery Corp. Green on Red or BoDeans?

Pick 2 Bands, Let Someone Else Decide Who's Better

Really love both, but gotta go with The Hollies. The Small Faces or The Faces?

Aerosmith by a wide margin. The Who or The Kinks?

Pick 2 Bands, Let Someone Else Decide Who's Better

Man, that a tough one.. Def Leppard due to their early stuff. Ryan Adams or Dave Alvin?

Pick 2 Bands, Let Someone Else Decide Who's Better

Even though I'm not a huge fan of either, I can't stand Dave Matthews band. Phish by a Longshot. Hole or Neko Case.

Pick 2 Bands, Let Someone Else Decide Who's Better

Gotta go with the Nomads. Just straight forward rock and roll with a retro and punk edge. Love their guitar rig tone too.

Pick 2 Bands, Let Someone Else Decide Who's Better

Ha! I stumped everyone with this one. I myself like The Nomads better, but The Cramps are also exceptional..

Pick 2 Bands, Let Someone Else Decide Who's Better

Agreed. Throwing 2 bands together that have nothing to compare whatsoever isn't interesting at all. Making comparisons between The Smiths, REM, Lloyd Cole, Housemartins, or Hoodoo Gurus makes sense.

Pick 2 Bands, Let Someone Else Decide Who's Better

    The Nomads or The Cramps?

Pick 2 Bands, Let Someone Else Decide Who's Better

New York Dolls, by just a slim margin. The DBs or Superchunk?

    Chuckie Cheese...hands down.

Pick 2 Bands, Let Someone Else Decide Who's Better

Give me The Dolls over either the Stooges or The Pistols. Like 'am all, but loved Johnny Thunders guitar sound.

Any ideas on the bass sound on "Love Is The Drug" by Roxy Music?

"The Same Old Scene" had an amazing bass tone too..

Pick 2 Bands, Let Someone Else Decide Who's Better

POTUSOA I think this is a good one...David Bowie or Bob Dylan. Glam vs Folk.

    Can't stand Ozzie's solo stuff.

Don't really like either much. Early U2 was OK I guess.

Even though I really like having the Stage 800, there is something to be said for the simplicity and great sound of the Rumble V3s and being able to add a little grit with the turn of the Overdrive knob. I had the Rumble 500 for a couple weeks, and loved the sound, but it started making a...

    Definitely Alice Cooper.

Please.. Huey Lewis was reconstituted garbage.. Husker Du was one of the driving forces of one of the best music scenes to ever exist...80s Minneapolis.

Pick 2 Bands, Let Someone Else Decide Who's Better

Wow, that's a tough one. Early Police was awfully good. Sting's voice was never as good as Ben Orr's though. Although his range was pretty amazing. I gotta call a tie. Elliott Easton was a highly underrated guitar player IMO.

Pick 2 Bands, Let Someone Else Decide Who's Better

Really like both, but Elvis Costello is the creme de la creme of song writing. Far better than anything Mick Jones or Joe Strummer ever came up with. And that is coming from someone that loved Joe Strummer. Elvis's "King of America" and "Blood and Chocolate" albums were his best ever IMO.

Pick 2 Bands, Let Someone Else Decide Who's Better

By far The Beach Boys. Pet Sounds is still one of the most amazing albums ever. The Doors...meh..

Wilco or The Jayhawks? BTW, I Iove both pretty equally. Throw in Son Volt and Ryan Adams and you've got hours and hours of great music.

Maybe it's the Basic Redhead that I'm thinking of. It's pretty cool sounding. But I've been using #30 for all of our gigs. Have you played through #30 yet. Try it. I love the tone of that one. I have created 3 different new programs using the #21 Bassman 300. I added a little more growl to it...

I have a Zoom modeling bass pedal that has essentialy become an expensive tuner since I got the Rumble 800. :-) My question is...if I run the XLR out of the bass pedal, I won't be getting my tone from my amp, but will instead be getting my tone from the pedal itself, correct? So I would just...

What preset models do you like the best on the RS800? I really like 21, 22 (Bassman 300 Pro - Fat and Clean) and 30 (SVT). 11 isn't bad either.

drummer wants me to use a pick

I also think a pick sounds better in some cases. It also cuts through the mix better than finger playing. I use mostly fingers, but play with a pick on the songs...She Sells Sanctuary (The Cult), Teen Angst (Cracker), Saturday Nights Alright For Fighting, (Elton John), Dancing With Myself (Billy...

Not Steadfast, but I've had the Stage 800 for a little over 2 weeks. Prior to that I had a Rumble 500 for about a month. I really like the sound of the Rumble 500, but there was a slight vibration in it that I eventually came to realize was something in the cabinet. I took it back and by then...

I can't imagine playing in a band that doesn't have a tube guitar amp somewhere in the mix, let alone no amps at all. And the e- drums would put me over the top. I saw a band doing this same thing a few weeks ago at a bar, and it sounded so thin and vacant. God love ya. I couldn't do it.

See all that we've missed out on being deaf musicians? Those "Wanna ______" moments don't come along often enough to miss out on them because we can't hear. (Hehe)

We use the QSC K Series powered speakers, so I definitely know about cutting back on highs. They are nearly idiot proof speakers, but you become aware very quickly that the highs need to be tamed down a bit on both guitar and voice.

    Fender Rumble Club

That actually makes sense to me. I've seen it with my old BXR300. I used to take the casters off after I determined where I was point to position my amp. If I weren't also the singer I would realize how little respect we get as bass players. :-)

    Fender Rumble Club

It makes sense to me for the sound you're looking for to have the 2 cabinets. Doesn't your rig blow you out when you don't go through the PA though? And don't your guitar players cuss you out for being too loud every gig? Imagine that...guitar players getting on someone else for being too loud. ;-)

    Fender Rumble Club

I guess I was so used to using a DI box from using an old BXR 300. So...you connect the external cabinet to your combo amp, then run an XLR from your combo to the board, correct? Does your combo amp automatically blend the two signals together, or is there a knob on the back of your combo to...

    Fender Rumble Club

I understand folks blending the sound of the two different speaker sizes to get more low end. The thing that doesn't make sense to me is adding an additional cabinet with the same speaker size, unless the person isn't running it through the PA. The Rumble 500 has much more than enough stage...

    Fender Rumble Club

That person must be mic'ing both cabinets or running 2 DI boxes to get the blend of the 10s and the 15. I guess that's why it makes very little sense to me to have an additional cabinet of 2 10s to go along with the combo, because the amp is being used as a monitor for the most part anyway. If...

    Fender Rumble Club

So then you Mic both speakers then, or do you use 2 DI boxes going to different channels to go through the PA?
