    Darkglass Anagram Multi FX Announced

Thanks for asking for a clip Gogoplata1980! It forced me to learn how to record again and make a video clip. 😁 I just realized that the last time I did it was years ago. This patch was made for a 4-string bass. Scene 1 is using the pitch effect to down-tune 4 steps and has the filter engaged...

    Darkglass Anagram Multi FX Announced

I love how easy it is to create patches with the Anagram! My old band covers "Closer" by Nine Inch Nails and I tried several different methods to get the bass synth effect, (all which fell short and was honestly a pain in the ass to play on a 5-string). With the Anagram, I used the pitch shift...

So happy to be back in the Stingray Club! This particular one is very lively and resonant unplugged. Absolute beast when plugged in.

    Dingwall vs. Carvin

Great video, thanks for sharing! Through my speakers, the Dingwall was clearer with mids. The Kiesel sounded scooped and had a piezo-like quality. I wonder what it would sound like with the mids boosted.

Which bass do you still want, even though you know you don't like it?

I hear ya but the dead fret was really bad. It would go to a wolf tone in a second or less. Who would buy a piano and just accept that one of its notes wouldn’t play? That’s not knocking Stingrays in general, I just happened to have one that was less than stellar. I loved everything else about...

Which bass do you still want, even though you know you don't like it?

Another for the Stingray. I had the 5-string version and loved it but it had a bad dead fret that killed it for me. After I returned it and started looking for another, I was talking to a friend of mine about getting another Stingray and he said, “It’s nice, if you like that sound…” He got in my...

    "No dead spots"... WHAT???

A dead spot is when the note dies fast. A wolf tone is when the note plays and then the pitch sounds like it’s going to it’s harmonic, kind of like a wolf howl.

Official Markbass Club - the beat goes on, and on....

I saw that and asked because the item status was still “available” when I tried to buy one. The salesman said that they sold out but the website hasn’t updated. It was a bit fishy but I don’t really need the amp so I didn’t pursue the issue.

Official Markbass Club - the beat goes on, and on....

It was today in the afternoon and they sold out right away. I tried to buy it right away and kept getting the “unable to put in cart” message. Then I called and was told that they sold out.

Yes, new. I wasn’t fast enough to get it before it sold out.

Ok, who here got the Marcus Miller 500 watt head for $129 (Musician's Friend, Stupid Deal of the Day)? By the time I clicked on it, they sold out. :-)

The Geddy Lee Jazz Club Part 2

Yes, sorry. I have no attention span. :-) I did a lot of trading and selling so I had several new basses along with the new MiA Geddy. Now that the dust has settled, the Geddy rose to the top as my Number One. Regarding the oiled neck finish... Mine came with a gloss finish so I’m not sure what...

Man, I browse this site too much... When I read your quote for your "next 5," I automatically assumed that you meant your next 5 basses.

What is the best Bass Capo for Metal?

My band does two songs in which I have to tune to “C.” I tried a G7th and it doesn’t hold as well as the Shubb. Yes, it’s cheating but it helps me get through a three hour set (and longer rehearsals).

How many basses do you own? (Currently) Part 2

I would absolutely love to be a one bass person but being in a cover band which plays songs in numerous tunings is a bit problematic. This is probably my last year playing in bands so maybe I’ll be able to downsize.

This forum definitely makes me spend a lot more but that’s because people are introducing me to some ridiculously excellent gear. While I don’t want to have a pile of gear, I do want what I own to have the most potential to make me play and sound my best. And I have to thank the community here...

NBD: Fender Geddy Lee Jazz Bass

I had the CiJ Geddy as my main bass for the last ten years and never got to try a MiM. Are the specs different? My CiJ was sold to fund my MiA Geddy with no regrets. As much as I loved my old CiJ, the MiA version is a different instrument and worth the upgrade.

    Trace Elliot ELF

I’m surprised that it didn’t work out for you but I’ve had some unexpected gear mis-matches too. You gotta trust your ears and then move on. :-). Then again, I returned a bass that I didn’t think had a sound that I could work with. I loved everything else about it but I couldn’t get an...

I took the 1x10 to rehearsal last week and it was keeping up with our drummer, but I did have to turn the amp up. If we needed more volume, I’m not sure if i could deliver it. Last night I brought the 2x8. Holy crap that cab is great! It has so much punch and bottom end that the band noticed a...

Official Crappy Bassist with Expensive Gear Club

It’s great! If you’re after Geddy’s sound, it’s in there and easy to dial in. But there’s so much more! I’m using it as my main dirt pedal and it’s on most of the time. Anywhere from a very light grit to high gain, it does it well. For me, it’s one of the easiest dirt pedals to dial in.

Official Crappy Bassist with Expensive Gear Club

A conversation with a friend of mine (who is a professional bassist) led me to believe that I belong here. I’ve played guitar for about forty years and recently switched to bass. Since switching, I’ve bought and traded for five basses in a short amount of time, bought two amps and four cabs, and...
