I'm feeling really tempted to put a set of DR Neons on my Kinetic Blue BFR. Between the ebony fretboard and no pickguard I feel like it'd really pop. Am I insane?

The abstract design of the P-bass is incredibly elegant. The actual implementation less so, IMO.

I'm coming to realize that I just don't like pickguards on most bases. Especially Ps. I think it is the visible screws/color contrast. Makes it look too cluttered.

I've been playing mostly fretted for a while, but took the Portamento off the wall to noodle around a bit. The neck is just absolutely divine. So comfortable. I keep being tempted to throw in some Nordstrands (maybe a Zen Blade or a big split) but this thread is making me question that.

There's absolutely a beauty in perfectly executing a simple idea. The p bass is an icon for a reason.

They're beautiful in their own way :) I don't see the P-bass as 'elegant' just because of how utilitarian/pragmatic it is. Not to say that is a bad thing.

Good to know, thanks! I was just using the freebie Google one, which is apparently one of the worst of the bunch :/ The USB side in this case is just my phone, so no risk of ground loops there.

I was getting a really annoying hum when using the Aux in, but managed to isolate the issue to my USB C to 3.5MM connector. Connecting that causes a hum even when the USB-C side isn't connected to anything. Weird. Hopefully a new adapter will fix the issue.

Can you post a sample from the DI outputs? And have you tried bypassing the preamp using the FX return and a preamp pedal? At least to rule out any issues/preference differences with the tone stack.

I read the entire manual online before actually ordering the amp. It's so well put together it's a great read in it's own right. I've also shared it with some of my (decidedly non musical) coworkers as an example of great technical documentation. I legitimately love the manual.

TI Jazz Flats. They're great. My biggest problem with them is that I want to try tapewounds but don't want to take them off.

The manual has a couple suggested presets that are a good jumping off point.

And just like that I feel compelled to throw my hat into the ring. Love my portamento.

I though the Pace Car Blue/Gold hardware was only a GC exclusive with a maple neck. The rosewood looks so much better though.

I love my Kinetic Blue. Pictures do not do that finish justice.

FedEx just dropped off my shiny new TT-800. Haven't spent a ton of time with it yet but it's so much richer sounding than my pedal headphone amp. Can't wait for the day I can pair it up with a Subway 115.

The Broke Dick is something of a special case, I think. It was a limited run, inside joke due to a particularly unhappy customer here on TB. That said, your general point stands. I couldn't bring myself to get something called a Big Muff or a swollen pickle. The Photon Death Ray is fantastic...

Is the TT-800's headphone output able to drive the 80ohm Dt770s? The manual only guarantees up to 32ohms, but implies higher will still work.

Another great thing about Zach Rizer is that he's super consistent. He uses the same bass and same general style in all his vids. Makes it much easier to separate 'his sound' from what the pedal is doing.
