Is there a Yamaha BB club? There is now!

Yeah, the sweaty thing was the exact problem I had when I tried it out yesterday and I didn't get the same feeling at all on the P34 (or even the 435).

Is there a Yamaha BB club? There is now!

I've been BB-curious for a while now. Looking at the specs I realised the nut width for the 5-string models is not far off my 4-string Stingray. I was in London today so popped in to the Yamaha store and got to play with a BBP34 and BB735. The guy in the store said the BBP35 is like gold dust...

    In ear buds for bass

I recently got some Sennheiser IE100 Pro for practising and I was pleasantly surprised by how well they perform.

    EBMM StingRay Special Club

Technically no, but it's the only bass I currently play. I also have a Spector Euro LX4, and while I love its tone it's just too uncomfortable to play for long. The Stingray Special (4H) is just so comfortable and I can get great tones out of it.

I still need to frame the print of this Oatmeal cartoon I've had for years (From his Literally comic.)

What was your very first bass guitar?

Peavey Milestone I from around '97 or '98. Got it from the Bass Centre in London back when it was still in Wapping. They advertised a beginners bundle in one of the bass player magazines. Got the bass along with a Trace Elliott 30W amp and a Warwick gig bag. Stuck with that until this time last...

The bass sounds and looks really great, but Lobster! Your little Hendrix jam simply blew me away 👏🏻

Ernie Ball Music Man Custom Design Experience

That looks stunning indeed! The chrome hardware does look good here, I think because you have a lighter fretboard but now I'm wondering if it would've worked with ebony too. Congrats on such a gorgeous bass.

Every time I see these Sweetwater-exclusive finishes I get very jealous and frustrated that I can't (easily) get ahold of these!

Official Darkglass Club: Welcome to the Darkside

I've joined the darkside recently. Picked up an Element a couple of weeks ago, my first Darkglass pedal. Love the different tones I can get out of it.

    shoulder surgery

I had right shoulder surgery a few years ago after a fracture. I was in a sling for 6 weeks and did physio for just about a year. It was probably a good 6 months at least before I could play for more than a few minutes at a time without getting discomfort or fatigue. The sling really destroys...

Ernie Ball Music Man Custom Design Experience

I'm very curious to see this. When I ordered my Blue Dream I went for black hardware as I wasn't sure I'd love chrome with an otherwise dark looking instrument (ebony fretboard too). I do love the dark look of the whole thing but sometimes I wonder if a bit of shiny from chrome would look good...

    EBMM StingRay Special Club

Yep, the back is just black with the Blue Dream finish. I don't mind it as that's against my body anyway. I still have a "wow" every time I look at this thing on the stand!

Ernie Ball Music Man Custom Design Experience

I got a CDE bass recently. https://www.talkbass.com/threads/ebmm-stingray-special-club.1354719/page-738#post-29090522 This is "Blue Dream" and is nothing like the render on the configurator, so definitely look around for photos or as mentioned above, ask Music Man for photos.

Famous bassists--but not famous for bass

The cheesemaker Alex James. Sometimes plays in this band called Blur.

    The Ezra Collective

The first time I saw them on TV here (UK) the bassist was playing a Warwick. He's a great player. Really great band with an interesting backstory.

    EBMM StingRay Special Club

New bass day! And I finally join the Stingray Special club 😀 This is a custom build from the CDE. Blue Dream finish, black hardware, ebony fretboard, flamed roasted maple neck. Blue Dream really is the right way to describe this. It's absolutely stunning. I've only played it for a short while...

Official Crappy Bassist with Expensive Gear Club

I definitely qualify for this. I've recently picked up playing again after more than a 20 year hiatus, decided I no longer got on with my Peavey Milestone I I got at 15, so started shopping around. I had my eye on a Stingray Special, but by chance saw a lovely looking Spector Euro LX4 so grabbed...

    EBMM StingRay Special Club

I gotta admit, I really like the new faded vintage burst, but since seeing Blue Dream posted here I instantly fell in love with that and now I can't decide whether I might get myself a vintage burst or go £££ with the CDE and go for Blue Dream. (I'm in the UK so import would add an extra £600 to...

    EBMM StingRay Special Club

Came here to post this 😄 This is the video I've been waiting for. I really like Oxblood, Butane Blue and Faded Vintage. The BFR is pretty nice too. April availability, apparently. Definitely want to see some of these in person.

    EBMM StingRay Special Club

That BFR really looks amazing. I wish they hadn't put the Butane Blue in a dark corner! It almost looked black from that shot. Would love to see that one in more detail.

    The Mediocre Bassist Club

Tougher question I first thought. There's lots of obvious answers, but perhaps a slightly less obvious one (and sticking with a fellow Englishman) is Guy Pratt. He's a great all-round player.

    The Mediocre Bassist Club

Another mediocre player here :) I started playing in the late 90s in my mid-teens, by mid-20s living arrangements meant I'd stopped playing. Now in my early 40s I've picked it up again and am realising just now much time I lost and how much my skills atrophied.

    SPECTOR® Owners Club

NBD for me! It's a late birthday present to myself, which also ended up being an early Christmas present. Euro LX 4 NT in natural sunburst. Gorgeous thing, and my first Spector (also my first post on TB, hi!).
