    P bass slab vs contoured body - effect on tone?

    I'm interested is there much of a tone difference in P slab bodies (51P) vs the contoured body, assuming they are both made of the same wood? I appreciate that contoured will be lighter and more conformable. Just wondering whether the slab will have any advantages with tone?

    This P bass neck has a very thick rosewood board. Thickest Ive played. Its a Squier Affinity neck. What gives? This photo is from around the 9th fret.Other photo closer to the nut. Notice how small the frets look compared to the thick fingerboard. Its at least 50% thicker than most P basses.
