If this were not a $100 challenge. and I was not just below budget, I might try some silver/gray in there.
On another note, I can see why great builders like JIO send their stuff out for professional finishing. It's definitely a whole other skill set, one that I have yet to master. There's no doubt I'm a total novice when it comes to finishing. That said, I sprayed on an attempt at a gradient.
Apparently at photography as well. I didn't notice the glare. Anyway, it's not near perfect, and clearly, my cutting board isn't cutting it (I crack myself up

) in slicing off nice, clean edges from the blue tape, but it is what it is. When this cures, I'll spray some clear over it, and finish up the fretboard. Once the challenge is over, if I don't sell it at Comicon, perhaps I'll have JIO's guy do the paint.
