1x10 cabs, do they exist?

Those Phil Jones cabs and amps seem to be the ones breaking new ground. But I do notice the 85db sens. is kind of what I was talking about. If you lessen the efficiency you can get more bass from a smalled cab - you just have to pump more poiwer into it. I suppose as powerful amps are getting cheaper all the time Phil Jones should be very successful with this approach. The only thing that will hold it back is our culture of big is better - which has been around since I started in the 60's alongside a bess player who later became well know - he was the first to use two 4 x 12" cabs with a Marshall 45watt valve amp. Then we all did it - and you still see it onstage to this day. Audiences expect to see multi-stacks. I wonder nowadays whether many of those speakers are actually 'live' considering our views now on Health and Safety and ear damage.

To keep records straight, the 4B is listed with a 95db(freq. unknown) sensitivity. You may have been referring to another model?

edit: though, for sure the 4B is in the lower range of sensitivity along with most direct radiating 1x10s

i have a pair of Bag End ELF's that are 1x10 cabs and they put out some serious low end (as in subs). they go ALOT lower than my Deltalite 2510's. they're tiny at 14"x13"x12", and they only weigh 27 lbs each.

here's a pic of them:

Sorry Coyoteboy - you're right - 95db. And I'm realising that the range that's measured over is real important. A bass oriantated speaker that tops out over 1000 - 1500hz can have a 95db sens but a speaker that covers a more full range up to 3,500 hz can have a hump up at the top that raises it's overall sens to 100db - but in the range we find important 50-1000 say, it will be showing a curve that would average out at 95 or 93. I'm learning a lot that's important to bass. Sens isn't a clear measure of how efficient the speaker is going to be for bass - you need to do that modelling and look and the specs closer.

I've been using two Eden CXC110's with a Bass Pod pro as a preamp and a 2 x 200 watt into 8 ohm poweramp for several years. These little cabs sound fantastic, easily reproducing a low B and often have people asking how this big sound comes from such small boxes.

They're ideal for rehearsal rooms and 200 people sized gigs without PA support, but the compromise is that they're not as efficient or as loud as bigger cabs and they don't have quite the pant flapping capability of my Trace Elliot rig - but that's OK because I have a Trace Elliot rig for when I need that. They are great for about 90% of what I do though and I love the low weight and portability.

Invalid Link Removedmakes a 1x10 with a Beyma driver in it. They're all hand made here in LA by TB'er Paul Tidwell. I had the good fortune to use one of these for a few weeks and it is amazing. It doesn't sound like one might think a 1x10 sounds. It is deep and full with no mid-honk. Plenty of range, tone and volume (350W @ 8ohms)for smaller gigs.

I liked the cabs so much I bought one. I only have the budget for 1 cab right now, so I ended up with the 1x12 just to cover louder situations (it'll go to 500W @8ohms). If I had a budget for a stack, I'd own the 3 way 1x15 and the 1x10.

They say a picture is worth a thousand word, however it won't help you to know how they sound, unless you take Gus' word for it. Here is a pair of 110's
