2009 International GTG

I think you are missing my point - I just think it should be called American GTG - not international - for accuracy and honesty!

I am not saying anything about what happened or didn't - just that many people are not interested in travelling to the US and you are grabbing their attention dishonestly!

But there were people who traveled, so the name fits. And besides, i just had to bust your balls a little bit :D At least you could've given me some props for wearing an EPL jersey :bawl:

I agree with you!!

If there was a GTG in Europe then it should be named after the country it is in!

e.g. "The TB Open GTG held in Switzerland" (or wherever)

I think that a US GTG should be called "Open GTG in America or US."

Whatever you choose to call it - "International" is just not accurate honest or appropriate! :rollno:

I think when we get those Bass players from Jupiter to stop surfing the giant red spot and attend then I think the Galaxy-Wide GTG event title would be appropriate.

When do you think it is appropriate to use the term "international?"

The little league world series is held in Williamsport, Pennsylvania every year; yet it is considered an international event becaused participants attend from all over the world.

If an event is attended by more than one nation it is, by definition, an international event; regardless of where the event is being held.

Well that means every GTG could be called "international", no matter where it was in the world - so how would you distinguish between different events - it makes no sense!!??

So - if we had 5 GTGs in Europe, all open to anybody and 3 or 4 in the US , some in India or China - they would all just be called :
"International GTG" ....:hmm:

It's just not logical or helpful...?

That is exactly what I am trying to do!

So - I am suggesting that it is called something like :

American Open GTG
American All-Comers GTG

etc etc.

I think we should have a naming convention - I don't mind what it is, as long as it is accurate and helpful - rather than giving no idea whatsoever !

It wouldn't matter to me where any such future event was held. I do agree that, due to the preponderance of US board members, a US location would result in the best attendance. Where ever the event was to be held, the potential attendees would need to reach a decision regarding travel and the associated expenses. Someone (actually, a large number of someone's ;)) would be subjected to the inconveniences and expense of traveling.

There were guys that were less than 2 hours from this 1st Int'l GTG that couldn't afford it anymore than others living outside the US. That same scenario will take place regardless of where the chosen location is.

When a location is decided upon, people will decide whether it's worth it to attend or not. I'll only say that this 1st attempt was excellent and if I had to spend what it likely cost for Bassybill and Chilipepper to come over, I'd do it in a heartbeat. It's not the gear, it's not the food or beer (which was superb BTW :D), it's not even the venue .... it's all about the people you get to meet and after meeting so many great TBers it'd be well worth the traveling, for me ... :cool:



Or, we could just have Lindfield beat this subject into a coma until the thread gets closed .... seriously, Bruce, give it a rest ... :rolleyes:
