2013-14 NHL Regular Season Thread: Second Period

Habs are looking great. We have three very solid lines and a pretty darn good fourth line. Habs are gonna be tough to beat!!
Watching the Maple Leafs is like watching a really fat, slow moth fluttering inevitably towards one of those bug zapper lights.

I recorded the CHI/PIT game and watched it this morning. Wow, I haven't seen the Pens play like that in a long time. Impressive. In the pregame interview, Bylsma made reference to the outdoor game and the thorough thrashing they got in all five aspects of that game. Whatever he told them team in the pregame worked.

Ditto on Toews. I watched the replay a hundred more times after NBCSP stopped playing it, it looked legit and legal.

I was sort of surprised how Philly hung with Boston. The way the Bruins have been playing, I figured they'd roll right over the Flyers.

Time to turn in to a New Jersey fan. I really want Jagr to make the playoffs.

I'm trying to remain mildly skeptic, but the Penguins played some Stanley Cup caliber hockey last night. Beau Bennett after missing 30 games looks like an all-star talent, and Paul Martin started skating today with the team. If Fleury can play like that in the playoffs, the team will likely go far. Still not putting any money on them though ;)

The way I see it....only two eastern teams are contenders. The Bruins and the Habs...sorry Pittsburgh, but I forsee a major choke. Possibly Philly, but if they make it to the final they are toast.
The Bruins and Habs are the only 2 teams that have any depth whatsoever. You'll see I'm right when the Habs take the Lightning in 5.
The West has a ton! San Jose, St Louis, LA, Anaheim, Chicago, and even Colorado are all contenders.
As much as I love my Habs and even admit to being a bruins fan...I foresee a Western win for the cup.

I don't know...Chicago lost their two top players over the past few weeks and Colorado is definitely eager to chomp at their opponents post season. The Californian teams are definitely ready for another run especially the Sharks and St Louis is on a roll right now.

I hate to admit it but I feel like Boston will make the finals again and probably win it again.

I predict Boston against either St Louis or Colorado.
