Playoff losses are one thing, but the last five years have been failures of near epic proportions in my mind. Four out of those five they lost to a lower seeded team for example. That's why this observer is a bit harsh with his criticism. What is going to really suck if they fire Bylsma is eating the last two years of his contract. Same deal happened to Therrien. Shero signed him to a three year deal, fired him after one and had to eat the contract. Maybe Shero is more accountable here than I realize.

Anyone want James Neal? He can score you some goals, but keeping him focused on playing hockey and not giving up stupid penalties is going to be difficult.

AV has been so solid in his philosophy and the fact he stuck with it after a seriously depressing start to the season. There was not much change in Rangers personnel at all when they fired Torts, and Torts whole system was basically thrown out, save some shot blocking. Very impressive.

I'm glad you brought this up, because I wanted to say something about this earlier when the 1 vs 8 thing came up. Here's the deal: losing to a lower seed doesn't necessarily mean it's something to be up in arms about. Any team that makes the playoff is a good team, but the thing is playoff hockey ais not the same game as the regular season. They're two different animals. Teams can have a swell record during the season (like Van in recent years) but the strengths of those teams aren't always strengths come spring when the chips are down. That's why the Presidents Trophy winner wins the Cup so seldom. The season is nowhere near the war that the playoff are.

Yes, the playoffs are a different game than the regular season. That's one of the reasons Bylsma needs to go. Pens essentially coast through the regular season every year, winning lots of games and putting up lots of points, and then they look lost when the playoffs come.

I would not mind seeing James Neal traded. I feel he's definitely a product of Malkin's talent. He still has a great shot, but he's never really flourished into the power forward I thought he would be, and he also takes so many dumb penalties, especially in the offensive zone while on the power play. Combine that with the fact he's now known as one of the dirtiest players in the league, and he's frequently getting 2 minutes for being James Neal. The downs outweigh the ups. He could definitely improve, but I'm not going to cry if they trade him.

Do you believe in karma?? As soon as I saw Marchand punch Plekanic at the face-off I knew they were toast. I understand the shots in the corner, after the whistle, etc...but to hit a guy on a face-off?
Boooooooo.
I'm a habs fan for life, yet I have always liked Boston, but...Boston did not conduct themselves like champions. Regardless of the refs, the calls, the close plays. Montreal showed a lot of class and Boston deserved what they got.
Montreal is gonna smoke the Rangers in 5!!!

Thanks slapper. I feel they have what it takes.
Boston is actually my no.2 team after the Habs, but they were disgracefull.
Anyways...no other team has 4 very good lines like Montreal. I am worried a bit as Lundquist is, in my opinion, the best goalie to play the game since Patrick Roy.
It could be their year for sure.

The Rangers are a shoe in for the SCF. No way Montreal beats Lundqvist four times. Then again, I said no one could beat Rask four times.

I'm sort of bummed that Boston is out, but they have some shady characters so I'm fine they'll be watching the games at home like the Pens will be.

Well that was surprising. And sucked.

I wont say anything about hockey gods and late powerplays and pucks going in off d's skates... you know, cuz that would be like sour grapes and stuff.

Montreal is better than I thought (what do I know about hockey anyway?) and was the better team in both games 6 & 7. They deserved it.

I'll wait til tomorrow to start beating my chest about how great the..........Rangers......are.
