2013 Ampeg V-4B 100W Reissue Pt2

I got to try my new full stack in a Texas dance hall last night (Wild West in Lubbock). I had numerous compliments from the sound guy and the band that hired me. Perfect rig for my Sadowsky PJ 5 with TI flats.

Well I finally finished my dream rig...well almost... The ampeg v4b-reissue is so killer I sold my other amp, bassman 500 (great amp) gets close but as I find out time after time nothing compares to all tube tone except an all tube head. My seconded v4b-reissue arrived today finishing my "dream" rig! To be honest...I'm not sure when or where I'll be able to play this rig out as a single v4b and cab is more than capable of handling most my gigs...but darn this would be great to stand in front of durning a show!

I can finally say I am out of GAS at the moment...hopefully stays that way!

Also...ordering a second AV grill cloth for a cab, have one already for the other...kind of liking the mismatch grill cloth right now though...will see.

-Happy ampeg user!

Cool. How does that compare to running both cabs with one head at 2 ohms?

I see the v4b has both pre amp out/ power amp in. I also notice it has a slave out option. What do you guys recommend when running two amps? Until I saw the slave out...I was planing on running pre out to power in on other head.

Thanks in advance,

The slave option: then the EQ is controlled by the master head.
I think Ampeg (Dino Monoxelos) has a tube video out on how to go about the slave option.
(but with the Heritage SVT IIRC)

Thanks High Camp...So (slave out) of master head into (power amp in) on second head, I know this is prob simple stuff, just want to make sure I hook up correct.

Dang!!!!!!! 2 V4B's I'd never thought of that. :roflmao::thumbsup::thumbsup::bassist:
That'd be 200w of pure awesome that's fer sure! Pity that I don't have 2 V4B heads.
And with my Super Bassman currently fulfilling my needs of large all tube head. ... sadly I can't see me doing it. Unless someone local has one and would lend it to me.
You're right tho. ..it'd sure he fun.
Congrats btw.

Thanks rodl2005...I'm pretty pumped about this setup!

Jimmy, to dial in different sounds from each amp I would need to split my signal correct? There is not a way to do that just running out the back from one head to the next head correct? I like the idea of running different settings on each amp.

Good question. You could use the slave or pre out jacks, but you would send what your first amp sends. Maybe you could jump channels using the active input out to the input of the second amp?

I need a REALLY REALLY LIKE button for that rig jdub!

Hi, well i finally got my V4B. Really excited at first. Playing alone I thought, yes, it works...but today at rehearsal with full band, this is loud drummer, two guitarrists (5150 and jcm800) low BEAD tuning. It didn't work for me.
It's a really, really nice amp but not enough loud for my needs. If it only were just a little bit more it would be perfect
I 've played 3 or 4 songs with the v4b and then switched to my VR, playing again the last song i 've played with the V4b and with that i can clearly hear and feel the difference.
I am a little bummed because i thought this it would be "the" amp.

Sounds like the amp is the VR then?

I am sitting in my office listening to my ears ring, it occasionally keeps me up at night and I have a hard time hearing my kids talking in the car with the background road noise. I've been wearing custom molded ear plugs for over 15 years. If you can't rehearse with a V4b and an 810 cabinet you are doing irreversible damage to your ears, there is nothing cool about loud drummers and half stacks in a small space...

I'll gladly take the V4B off your hands if you decide to sell!

Agreed, I make myself wear plugs every time we fire it up. It was a hard thing to get used to but well worth the struggle. It's so nice to drive home after a gig and be able to hear the radio or carry on a normal conversation.
