2013 Ampeg V-4B 100W Reissue Pt2

I'd agree with mosta that. I thought the RI V4B goes a little louder and cleaner but I could be wrong as I haven't had the V4BH for a good few years.
I just remember being in a big room. ...BIG stage. ..monitors for all of us. .. we got loud. ..but on that stage it wasn't at all nasty loud. . And I needed a CLEAN tube tone. Couldn't quite get there with the V4BH. .. So I moved onto a 300w all tube amp.
But I think thru the same cab ( NV610) the RI would struggle to stay clean there too.
I know. ..... I know. .. I coulda turned down and get some back thru the monitor but that's not the point. And it was mid song. ...sound engineer at other end of massive room etc etc. .. and nearly 10yrs ago

And. .... I think the 2 Fender Bassman Pro Neo 115 cabs I'm mostly using today are far more efficient and eek out a lot more sound than the sealed 610 or 810E I was using back then.
Amazing really. ..but these two 115s really stamp it out. With the Super Bassman it's almost never NEEDED - wanted often - as they're so efficient that one 15 will get really loud n clean if I adjust the amp that way.
Even with the V4B, 2 of the 115 Bassman Pro Neo cabs hit out a huge volume.
Sound great doing it too.
If it wasn't for the sheer SLAM of the 6x6550s in the Super Bassman I'd take the V4B 99% of the time.
But having that sheer weight and thickness behind each note -even up on the G string. ... Lovely! !:bassist::hyper::bassist:

We use a lot of the same gear in a band that I play guitar in. We have a few different amps - but most gigs we use the GVT52 (love that amp) and a V4B with a 212 AV cab. I changed the grill cloth on the bass rig to the Heritage style.

I can't find a good picture that has both amps in it - this picture is funny, we thought we were finished with an exhausting 4 hour gig when the owner offered good money for us to play a fifth set. I took a quick picture of exhausted bass player before stumbling on to the stage myself:

this amp performed brilliantly last night. My normal setup is from the Geddy Lee with Aguilar Hot-J pickups with a Parallel/series Switch into the line6 G50 into the Ampeg SCR into the Orange Terror bass with gain at about 50%, mids dimed, slightly boosted bass and treb through a pair of Aguilar DB112s.

Last night I took the Orange and SCRDI but left them in the car as a fall back. Restrung the fender with a set of slinkys. The V4b was at about 50-60% gain, mids at 7 and bass and treb on 6 or so. I had plenty of stage volume and that last little bit of something that the tubes give you was back. Loved it.

I play skapunk and it cuts through the horns which was great and important for me:

I know its supposed to spread better vertically. I like the look better when they are side by side though. I'll probably go back and forth and see if I notice any difference.

You know, three is just one short of four....the lowest pic is really begging for a two by two with the V4B on top...

Awesome setup. I am running two of the 112AVs with the V4B and would love to run three but am concerned about how the ohm load will do over time. I was originally going to run the 212AV and a 112AV but decided against it after reading replies from talkbass and Ampeg. Still wanna add that third one tho!
Please let us know periodically how your rig is holding up. :bassist:

My 212 AV was to be here today but FedEx has messed them up several times now. The first problem was it just sat for two days before loading on the truck.... And the support needs life support. Told them they make even the Post office look superb. Now I'm waiting till Tuesday.

How does the v4b run running the 3 112 cabinets? Sweet looking rig as well!!!
