2013 Ampeg V-4B 100W Reissue Pt2

Well after 4 years my V4B RI is in the shop :(. I was playing it about a week ago and it let out a pop and then no sound. the power tube 2nd from left was glowing very bright. I just got off the phone with my tech and he said that all 4 screen resistors are fried. He had to order them because he said they were not the norm. He said something about the ohms being different. I'm hoping all works out well because I absolutely love the tone of this amp.

Sounds like a power tube red plated shorted and took out the screen resistors should be a pretty easy fix replace those four resistors and all four power tubes and you should be good to go with a bias of course

Yeah he said it was a simple fix he's just waiting for the resistors to come in. He also said that it most likely needed all 4 power tubes replaced. He said he would check the amp thoroughly. He is also an Ampeg Certified Tech so he knows these amps. I'm just missing my amp.

At about 11:00 on the gain with a typical Fender. But I get my crunch from pedals since I need a clean tone, too, so I crank master and set volume with gain. Sounds more like vintage amps without a master, too. But if you want crunch from the head and not go overboard with volume, then you have to crank gain and use master to set volume, because it may not be SVT loud but it's pretty freakin' loud.

Wherever it suits... depends on the band, song, style etc..... ' certain amps for certain styles' just doesn't compute to me. Maybe there's a couple that work better for some, but I bet I could make any amp work for any style of music.
But.... V4B...- master full, gain fit volume,
- master at 9, gain max for a gritty sound.
Mostly tho, my B,M,T EQs stay between 11 and 1 o'clock

You can't get the silver grillcloth right now. LOUD never ordered any more when it ran out a few months ago because they had planned to sell Ampeg. I don't know if Yamaha has stocked it up yet, but I imagine they will unless they plan on dropping the blue silver cloth, which I think would not go over well.

Besides, it's way cheaper to re-grill the V4B in Heritage cloth. Looks better too, IMHO, although I certainly love the blue-silver, too. Now the Classic black grillcloth from the SLM era, they could toss that crap in the river :D

Can do it marches? Wouldn't that be funny if that's what you meant to say and not voice recognition screwing you up?
