I wonder if the edge joints were weakened. You wouldn't want them to fail when picking up the amp. Field experience is invaluable. Maybe Loud QC would like to examine it and would be willing to send you a replacement head cabinet.

Maybe the ply is just thinner and or Italian poplar to help with the weight? Either of those would make it bend more.

Exciting news - the V4B has arrived in New Zealand! NZ$3000. Same price as the Fender 100T down here. My dilemma now is that it is too far away to try out until I am next in Auckland, so I would have to buy unheard, and currently my 100T is just singing into the Berg 115 cab - it really is a great amp. The original plan was to replace the 100T with the V4b, since I also have a Super Bassman 300, giving me the best of both worlds with an Ampeg and a Fender in the cupboard. I know I will like the V4b as an Ampeg fan of forty years, but am still waiting for someone to put the two side by side for an honest comparison of the similarities and differences. Can the100T gets close as dammit to the V4B with its extra eq going on? I don't really want to fork out 3K for the privilege of being the first to do this......anyone?........sigh....

Just picked up my ampeg v4 b tonight @ L@M in Ottawa . Ordered it about a week ago . I had band practice last night so I have the vr I use still fresh in my head . The V4 sounds great only trying it through a 1 12 speaker I have at home . Overall very happy with my new amp . I know its the honey moon stage . I have a feeling my usa made vr could be left at home more often .:hyper:

A little thread-hijack: Does any of you tried the V4B with old 4x12 v4 cab? does it sound goo enough to play bass on it? I mean I have 90s 810e but want to buy smth smaller

Yes, I run my '75-6? V4B on top of one of those. Mine was unloaded when I purchased it (cheap), and I picked up 2 Delta 12A's for it. I sealed off the other 2 holes for a high volume sealed 2x12, but I've also heard of good results with 4-12's used for bass. I didn't worry about Neo, because the cab weighs a ton anyway, no way around that. It also gets the top speakers up high when stood on end, so it's easy to hear. And, of course, the head fits on it like it was made for it. ...it was! :)

This week I got to put the v4 b through two 3 hour band practices @ about 12 hours at home playing comparing it against the svt vr . I used a 62 ri jazz bass @ 62 ri p bass @ fender 4x10 cab. First the a/b test with the master wide open and using just the gain . It did everything the vr did and for 100 watts I was smiling . At band practice I run the gain about 10 and master around 10 . With no need to go any higher this being a 4x10 fender bass cab circa 2008 . My guitar player using his marshall 4 x12 Drummer and with my keyboard player running through our p.a .For years I ran a svt vr through a yorkille 8x8 and I melted faces with volume . Overall I dialed every button clicked every switch and tested the vr @ v4 b. If you like the ampeg sound these new amps do it well . That's a understatement I have my 2006 VR sitting on my kitchen floor and the v4 is getting the workout . After a hernia operation a 41 pound workout instead of 85 is a dream . And I wont count how many amps I tried or listen to that I was told sound just like a ampeg .

I've had almost no time to compare the 100T and V-4B head to head. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks, I can spend some time comparing them through the same cabs. Right now I'm using the 100T with the Fender 410 Neo cab and the V-4B through the SVT410HE, so they obviously sound a bit different from each other, but not by a lot. I think it likely that they can be EQed to sound very similar to each other.
