So I just discovered today that I'm going to have to move the vertical stack to one edge of the head or the other. It sags a little bit under the weight of the cabs. It's not real bad, but I don't think I should do it anyway. If moving it to one side doesn't work, I guess I'll have to get creative with placement.

You could channel your inner Jerry and go with the sideways vertical amp next to the vertical speaker array...

Or maybe you want to channel your inner bob and get some short shorts:eek:

SVT knobs at noon recorded through the XLR out:

V4B knobs at noon recorded through the XLR out:

SVT with knobs at bass noon, mids 3:00 @ 800hz, treble 2:00 mic'ed:

V4B with knobs at noon mic'ed:

The next two tracks were more for fun and edification more than anything, as I would likely never use them this way...

SVT set with EQ'd knobs through XLR out:

SVT set with nooned knobs through mic:

And for comparison's sake, here's a clip I did using the REDDI for a DI:

Got some comments coming, but in the meantime, here you go...

Finally had a chance to listen to these. Thanks JimmyM. It's a close call. Of course, for the moment I am listening through my MBP speakers but the V4B sounds like it has a tad more depth.....

Here is me hoping that I can get mine ordered soon.

Ya, a lot of folks have said that. I still think it's my playing being less good on the SVT mic'ed track. Plus a bump of a knob on either of them could have changed your perception. Don't anyone to get the idea that the SVT is inferior to the V4B or anything ;) I do know some who like the V4B better, but I like them about the same tonally.

Seriously considering this amp right now. Also looking at the Fender 100T but I'm leaning more towards the V-4B cause I like the simpler design. Not really a fan of auto-bias circuits. I think it would sound real good on top of my GB Focus 15 cab.

Well it looks like alternate plans for stacking my V4B and 210av's are going to have to happen soon. Even when I put the cabs off to the side of the head, it still sags. Maybe I can get Hodgy to build me a chassis made out of steel.

:D

Actually, it looks unusual but not horrible to do T formation. The handle's in the way but a couple pieces of wood covered in felt would likely take care of that.

Many of my rigs have been T formation for eons. Doesn't look unusual a bit to me, but a really heavy head on top of light cabs is a bit scary, have to admit.

I wonder if the edge joints were weakened. You wouldn't want them to fail when picking up the amp. Field experience is invaluable. Maybe Loud QC would like to examine it and would be willing to send you a replacement head cabinet.

Aside from the larger footprint, what's the down side of resting the head on an amp stand?
