Th Wild really need to learn how to play 60 minutes. The 2nd period in particular has been terrible. Although last night it was all bad. Passing was particularly bad. They looked tired to me. They keep putting themselves in these "must win" situations. I don't think they'll make the post season this year.
Rangers claw back from being down 3-1 and 5-3 against the fancy Icelanders to get the win. Love seeing that after their phony baloney fair weather fans start a chanting cheer to mock the blueshirt's goalie... Have a nice night.
2 games out of first now. Vancouver and Buffalo this week. Probably see Skapsky in the net against the Sabers.

The only consolation is that they got the loser point. They got off to a fast start in the 1st and 2nd periods which is good and then built a 3 goal lead, but they couldn't complete a pass out of their own end or mount any type of offensive pressure once they go the lead. Calgary is relentless - they look like a team that actually wants to go to the SCP - Boston, not so much.
The B's are 4 up on the Panthers who are playing Toronto tonight. It is also not a good sign when your team needs to rely on the Leafs to help you maintain the second wildcard spot. Go Leafs Go!
Tuuka has been playing well, but we might see Malcolm Subban in goal against Edmonton tomorrow night. It may be as a showcase to boost his trade value or even for the B's to see what they got as he may be an improvement over Svedberg as a backup.
As the season winds down and you're in the playoff picture, all the games are big, but this one for Pittsburgh is big tonight. Hosting the Blue Jackets, who are still dangerous despite the injuries.

Another good game against the Wild for the Flames last night. They came back AGAIN to overcome a 2-0 Wild lead to send it in OT. They pretty much dominated from the 3rd period into OT but lost. One point looks pretty good under the circumstances. The Ducks are here Friday. Should be another good one.
Another day, another overtime loss point for the Bruins. The B's were 0 for 12 in the shootout which means that Tuukka stopped 11 of 12 shots and lost!
Florida is now within 3 points of the last wild card spot which means I have to root for the Habs tonight. It is the least that the C's could do for us given all teh points they took from us this year.
This is not a good time to be a B's fan and the road doesn't get any easier as St. Louis and Chicago are next on the schedule. Instead of starting to pay attention to the Red Sox in June after a nice SCP run, I'll be watching March spring training games this year.

All I can do at this point is shake my head at the Pens. They aren't a tough physical team, even with adding Steve Downie. Yet, trying to act like tough guys cost them a game earlier this week against Washington, a game they should have won. Then you have Thursday night when Crosby decides to act like a tough guy and try and fight Dubinsky. Really Crosby? Dubinsky baited you on that one bro, then he capped it off with the game winning goal. Fleury played great in goal in that game, and it was wasted again.

Reality check time for the Flames last night losing 6-3 at home before they go on a road trip of 7 games against Eastern Conference teams where their record 'aint that great. With playoffs coming up it appears that Anaheim is starting to turn it up a notch and came back to beat them after falling to a 2-0 defecit. My prediction is if Calgary manages 4-3 or better on this road trip while the Briar is played here they'll make the playoffs, if 3-4 or worse, it's "better luck next year." It all starts at Madison Sq. Gdn. on Tuesday.

Was glad Rask got calmed down after the end of the first. That was the best I've seen the B's play in awhile
That was a bizarre end of the period with Rask picking up a handling the puck penalty then the slash of the post which caught the Chicago player. Not a perfect game, but a huge improvement.
A bit OT - but I highly recommend the ESPN 30 for 30 telling the story of Russian hockey and the events that led up to the US having a chance to beat them in the 1980 Olympics - there was footage from some of the Canada v Russia series in there as well. Very well done. I didn't realize that the Russian coach made two really poor decisions in the game of the Grady Little or Pete Carroll type level of blunder.
