2014-2015 NHL Regular Season Thread

If there's a trophy to be won, I want us to win it. We've been snubbed on several awards over the years (Vezina and Norris), and I want hardware. Presidents trophy, Campbell, Norris, Vezina, Jack Adams, Calder, etc. I want it all.

The Flames got off to a bad start against the Ducks in their 1st home game back from that 7 game road trip falling behind 2-0 in the 1st couple minutes. They then scored 5 unanswered goals and ended up beating them 6-3. Particularly sweet as heir season record was 0-3 against them so far this season. Canucks/Kings tonight. Not sure who I want to win here as we're 1 point behind the Canucks and 2 ahead of the Kings. Really tight with 15 games remaining. Leafs here on Friday.

The Pens raced out to a big lead, sat back and watched it evaporate, then finished strong for the win. I suppose I could be bothered by the failure to maintain a lead, but rather I am impressed they picked themselves up off the ice and punched in two goals to win the game.

We outplayed the Sharks all night. I feel like the officiating was a little loose, but we have to find a way to get pucks in the net. We all thought that the 1-0 wins and losses were a thing of the past with Lavi, but I guess not. Tie game well into the second, then 1-0. We bit the bullet on another early goalie pull. I really hope Lavi doesn't lose the players during this skid.

4-0 Kings, so it's got even tighter - Kings/Flames tied for 3rd one point behind the Canucks in 2nd.

The Dr. Jeckle Bruins are back although they are also seeing more puck luck than earlier in tne season which helps. A nice win against Tampa last night, strange game though, Bishop let in a somewhat soft goal, Stamkos broke a stick in ot and threw half of it into the stand earning a 10 minute misconduct so he couldn't partcipate in tbe shootout. Strangest of all is that the B's won the shootout with 2 goals in tne first 3 shots. In ot, there was a brief period of 3 v 3 due to penalties - it was great. I know that 3 v3 is part of the AHL OT, I'd love to see it in tne NHL next year.

*sigh*

It's Bizzaro World for Pens fans. The Pens seem to be surging to the top of the bottom of the standings. I don't think there's enough games left to give their playoff spot to Ottawa, but they are sure going to try.

Nice road win (8 in a row) for the Wild. 19-4-1 since the All Star break. No. 1 PK. Not bad.

They really played well the last 10 minutes of the game. I thought you guys had given it to us in the second, but that wasn't the case. We've now landed points in 3 of the last 5 games, but we lost the #1 spot. Gotta get things clicking again somehow. We can't be in freefall mode much longer, or our season will only be 86 games long this season.

I thought it was over with the 5 on 3. The difference for us lately is that we don't give up when were down. Dubnyk keeps us in and Dumba - what a blast to win the game.

The "Can't Finish Their Chances" Bruins played the Sabers last night and came out of it with an loss in the shootout. On the back end of a back-to-back, you have to give Buffalo credit for blocking shots and hanging around until they could net a power play goal early in the 3rd. Goalie Anders Lindback came up big. The only positive for the B's is that our backup goalie, Svedberg, finally turned in a creditable performance. The race for the last wildcard in the East just got tighter.

Given the B's pitifulness in the shootout, the news that the GM's are recommending 3 v 3 next year after the 4 v 4 is being celebrated in Boston, the fewer shootouts the better, even if it means giving teams likes the Pens, Canadians, and Lightning a better chance of winning in OT with the scorers they can throw out there.
