2019 Gear Purchase Plans

In 2018 I sold a boat load of amps and several basses. They were not being used and it was time to move this gear.

I acquired 3 used Mike Lull basses and totally revamped my speaker cabinet needs with some Bag End product.. I'm covered for any type of gig that comes my way. I'm really liking the Lull basses..

I'm in the process of compiling a list of items that I will sell..a few basses and possibly and amp or two.

I'm very intrigued by the LeFay basses but they're way out of my price range..if I can strike a trade or see a really crazy deal on one I might pull the trigger.

And of course we shall see what NAMM will bring to us..

Mike Lull's basses are superb and always tempting. I didn't see his name on the NAMM list--hope he makes it this year.

I bought lots of stuff last year after a 25 year hiatus from playing bass. I like Hofners and bought 4 last year, as well as pedals and a rig. This year I have to calm down. I do have plans, though, that have already been initiated. I bought Hofner Ignition that I'm going to treat as a project bass this year; i.e. remove the frets, upgrade pups and such. I also want get a tweed case for one of my German 500/1s.

All sorts of plans, we’ll see how much works out this year:

I’ve got a Barefaced 210 due to arrive by the end of the month. It will be my 2nd, can’t wait to play the vertical stack.

Hoping to sell stuff this year. I sold off some gear last year but trying to get down to 4 basses from 12.

Two possible acquisitions would be:
-V4B reissue (or maybe Mesa Prodigy or whatever Andy makes next).

-Really silly Warmoth project. Plan is to make a 32” scale ‘54 style bass. Warmoth doesn’t make the tele headstock style or tele body routes for short scale (only the pickup route), so I’ll be making some of the routes and cutting the pickguard and shaping the headstock. Not hard but nerve wracking given the cost of the wood. Time consuming and I’ve been practicing a ton lately! Still on the fence with this. I already have a Fralin split p ‘51 pu in another bass currently.

Also need to buy some slap strings for my bandmate’s upright Kay that I’m borrowing. And some lessons.

Maybe next year will be getting my own upright.

I keep procrasting on a new 212 or 15 and a12 lightweight cabs from Mesa,Aguilar,Beg etc. Trying to tell myself you are really getting $1200- 1600 worth of speaker cab. One of these days Im just gonna push the button. Hope I dont regret it

My #1 plan for 2019 is to actually sell most of my guitar stuff. Since I'm playing bass now I'd keep just a head, a cab and a couple of pedals.
My #2 plan for 2019 is to get a J bass. I'm a P guy but I want to experiment new sounds.
I don't have other plans for 2019 and I don't like having more than 1/2 instruments.

Well... there's the pedals though. I can't make plans for pedals since I don't know which kind of new stuff will be released during the year, but usually I sell something when I buy new pedals.

I don't have a JBass yet, and I really want one. It's the only thing I've "planned" to get this year, but we all know how that goes...
Probably just going to get a Player Series, but I tried a Performer Series Jbass a few weeks ago that wowed me. Depending on how shows go in 2019 (meaning music-related disposable income lol), I'll make my purchase.

Edit:
I also really want a hollow/semi-hollow bass, and these Hagstrom Vikings do something for me. Never held one but they sound fantastic online to my ear, and every single color option is schmexy to me. Wouldn't fit very well in the ensmble I'm in right now, but I love that sound for certain genres.

Worth consideration.

In 2019, I plan to buy only one bass, the Fender Mustang JMJ. That's what I plan to do. But if a certain project of mine starts working good, I may also get a Steinberger headless 5 strings to fit the 80's visual looks. But I wouldn't look away from a deal with a MM Sterling.
Concerning other gear, my main plans are to get another Alto 310 speaker to make company to the one that I have so I can use my HX Stomp with a stereo setup. I also want to get a small synth to start making basslines. I'm divided between the Novation Bass Station II and the Behringer Model D.
Pedalwise, I only intend to buy the new One Series Filter by Source Audio, but I'd also like a 5th Gear, a Terramorfer, a Meris Enzo, a Hyper Luminal, a Spyral (former Rose) Black, and several others that are on my GAS list. But it doesn't mean I'll get them all this year.

I have a fretless Lakland 55-02 on order, should be arriving in March.
So the deal is to get all the ancilliaries I'll need to go with it:
I got the Radial Bigshot I/O box for my b'day, so I can switch between my Lakland Darryl Jones Jazz bass and the new fretless, but I need a new music stand, straploks, a nice suede strap, a double gigbag, another quality cable (I like Klotz LaGrange, but they're hard to find for sale, weirdly.). The Radial also has a nice tuner out, so I think I'll finally get around to a decent pedal tuner - probably a TC Electronic Polytune.
I'm also on the lookout for a good phaser.
I have 3 basses I could sell, along with 4 amps, but they're at my parents place and I live abroad, so it's tricky to organise selling them. Also, they're cheap practice amps and elderly guitars that are worth pennies at best, so I have no real motivation to get rid of them other than clearing space in my parents house. There's a load of cheap nylon straps and leads and other guff sitting in a box there too. Might fling it up on FleaBay and see if anyone wants it.
