I second the Omnicomp, it replaced with ease the Smoothie and Empress as my general purpose compressor. That said, if you're looking for more of a tone sweetener (judging by the short list) then the Omnicomp is likely too neutral.

Those are all solid choices, hopefully Spencer starts making more Chromatrons soon!
One filter I feel like a lot of people are sleeping on the Rossie filter by GFI System. It has 2 presets, is expression controllable, can do LPF, HPF, BPF and peaking filter, and has 3 modes, envelope, manual (with expression pedal) and stepped filter, so you can set the cutoff frequency in steps like a sequencer, giving an arpeggiated feel.
If you're considering trying out a Darkglass drive I would recommend the Vintage Deluxe. Its similar to your Vulcan XL in it's ability to act as a preamp, and is less modern and clanky than the B7K. It can still be made to sound brighter, but it's wheelhouse is the thicker, beefier overdrive sounds.
The Alpha Omega is also an interesting one, a lot of people use it for high gain sounds, but it's capable of some really beefy and smooth low gain stuff as well. Like the Vulcan, it has two separate drive circuits, but you can blend between them, instead of selecting on or the other. Of the Darkglass offering, the Alpha OImega is the most amp-like in terms of it's breakup and touch response, especially at lower gain settings./
Not to go too far off topic here. I'd love to see Spencer come back with an updated Pwnzor, and honestly, further to my previous comp suggestions, if you are looking for a tone sweetening comp, I think you would be very pleased if you could track down a Pwnzor. A little hard to find, but its really a great comp.
The 3Leaf Pwnzor is the best tone sweetener I’ve ever had, highly recommend it for anyone who can get their hands on one.

I got mine on about a month ago. I found lots of collectible pedals at really good pries. Is hard for GC employees to keep track of pedal prices. A few months ago I took my octabvre MK2 to valuate and an employee ofered me about $100 for it, he said its a boutique pedal and wont sell for over $200.
I paid a similar price to @villegastx a few weeks back, although that was to a member of another forum. I’ve not seen one in the wild for a while. I hope one turns up for you soon. The non-XL Vulcan is still one of my favourite ever overdrives.

It probably won't in a guitar center unless you get one of us to walk in and browse which would eventually happen and then we'd run here to post about the pawn shop find at guitar center. I rarely go into guitar center because I've got much better stuff at home. I tried trading a boutique bass for an off the shelf guitar and the guy said to me, this would be a "birthday bass" because we'd celebrate how many years it would sit on our wall. He told me that anyone interested in that kind of instrument was not coming into guitar center to buy it.
Those employees are typically right. If it's a brand the average musician doesn't know, it's gonna sit on the wall. Brand recognition is everything in brick-and-mortar stores unless the salesperson knows how to spin it, but even that finds taking a patient and reasonable person (increasingly rare).
Doom2 on reverb in the $500 range. Not cheap at all, but still under average doom2 posted.
I’m likely listing my Chromatron for trade in the (Europe and International) Classifieds in the next couple of days. I’m after a Cog T-70, Cog R-1, IE Dubterrograph, or maybe an IE Oxide with top jacks or a Volt Thrower, in order of preference. I’m not necessarily expecting a herd of folks professing interest but thought I would offer it to those on this thread first.
As trailed, my Chromatron is up for trade in the European and International classifieds for those that may be interested.
On a separate note, I’m still keenly awaiting the next batch of pedals and, hopefully, anima preamps!
