3Leaf Audio Club - Episode 2

Okay some of these complaints and “solutions” for pedal drops are getting ridiculous, and I have to say something that this thread has needed for a lonnnngggg time:

1. Spencer doesn’t owe any of us s***. (let’s call this “Rule #1” going forward)

For 2+ years, I’ve watched this thread turn into a monstrosity. When I originally joined, I was hoping to see fun posts about pedal combos, sound clips, hell even a NPD…

But instead, for over the last 2+ years, I’ve shuffled through constant posts complaining about output, resell prices, f**k I’ve even seen some of you post your take on Spencer’s current mental health at the time (Please refer back to Rule #1).

A couple of months ago, some of you complaining about Chromatron resell prices were saying Spencer should get a cut of that. As soon as the man rose the price of it, we got everything from complaints to even a 5th grade level macroeconomics explanation. Hell, there’s a person on here that ADMITTED to being a scalper, and this person posts regularly in here like nothing happened.

I’d like to think there are some folks making creative art with their 3 leaf pedals, but from following this thread, it’s hard to not be disgusted by the 3 Leaf
Audio brand as a whole (seriously, a few of you in here are revolting). There are some boutique pedal companies whose creators post regularly on TB, and it should be a GIANT red flag to you all when Spencer hasn’t logged in since 2015.

Before going any further, let it be known that I snagged a Doom 2 yesterday. I came prepared with Apple Pay ready after waiting 2 years for a Doom 2 (reminding even myself of Rule #1 if I wasn’t able to get one). For those that have iPhones and didn’t get one yesterday, you didn’t lose to bots, you lost to someone who also has an iPhone but was quicker to the draw. Now that I have a Doom 2, I can finally put it to rest and unsubscribe from this toxic thread.

Last and most important, if you’re reading this Spencer, please don’t let this insufferable thread ruin something you enjoy.
Lol. Sounds like Trey is cranky and needs to smoke some weed.

But don’t forget you’re among us too. It is our role, even me and you included, to keep this place pleasant, respectful and a bit more optimistic !

You’re right, and I’m sorry for not making it one. In my anger, I forgot this.

While most of it was written in rage, I still think a lot of it had to be said.

Especially Rule #1.

After missing out, I had a good time enjoying what I have and not worrying about what I don’t.

This can't be more true. Also, I've always found, with a drop coming up, to have something incoming that always trumps the drop. This has gotten me through many of crushed dreams in the past. In the end, everything will start falling into place.

Funny as heck is crushed dreams over a pedal hardly in the least....... Cyberspace banter is simply fun and time passing on TB, with more than the occasional Bass knowledge gained on TB personally. Some of you guys take this far too seriously I said bots and scripts and stand by it. If some how stating that premise offends you oh well drink a coke and smile LMAOOOOO. Personally without a Doom2 I have killer pedal board my 1st ever one to boot. Sure I wanted one but I've lost no sleep over not getting it. BTW CONGRATULATIONS TO THE DENVER NUGGETS!

Absolutely. Let's enjoy what we're all already lucky to have.

Especially if you already have a prior version. Let's not reproduce what many people do with smartphones. No. You don't actually Need the very last version of an item.

Let's focus on positive things. In my case, my DESS pedalboard (HPB2 720 OL) is being produced (hand made) at the moment ! I can't wait to receive it and do the custom cables myself.

Stuff pops up, but you have to keep looking for said stuff. If you want it bad enough you'll find it eventually.

Obviously they aren't worth the $1k the guy on reverb wants, but with so many people after them this is what happens. If you don't like it don't pay the price.

Doom2 and a MKIII are in my current stash, and I'm done, have no interest in a Proton. Unless the D2 updates make it different enough to need one...

I am not sure the customer base is THAT wide. My guess is that 300 units of each is enough so that most of us can get one.
Look. I got one. I am not buying the other ones in a different color. That's one less person you'll be in competition with next time. An I guess many of us won't buy all three colors options.

In other words, I guess next batches may be slightly easier to get. We may expect them to sell in 1 min or 2 instead of 30 seconds. We'll see.

Weird combo of white knighting, not so subtle bragging about scoring, putting down users, rubbing people's noses in the fact they didn't score and complaining that users discuss the current events such as the drop and their crushed dreams and their despair induced ideas... good stuff...

Also weird iPhone/Apple flexing. Entertaining, tho'.

Kinda agree about this… The Moollon thread is exactly the same thing. Now forgive me for not improving the quality of this thread but I’ve been dying to know…

Did anyone got some kind of updates about the faceplates? I sent spencer an email maybe one or two years ago. As he stated in his latest blog entries, he’s gonna replace them but I never got any kind of follow up. I’m not sure he’s gonna go back to two years in his emails at this point.

He said a recent homepage update that he’ll be sourcing the Octabvre and doom 2 enclosure issues with the new 304 enclosures soon

It took me the last 5 to 6 years to finally acquire a Depth Charge.
I had to patiently wait for the right opportunity.
I have been trying about the same amount of time to land a Doom 2. Much to my disappointment, I lost out on the first 2 drops. Am I upset? NO!
I’m actually happy for Spencer and his success. I am glad he is introducing 300 new Doom 2s into the world. Maybe I won’t be lucky on the other drops, maybe I will, if not hopefully in time I will find one on the used market.
Maybe it will have an effect on the flippers and scalpers.
Not sure if I’m interested in any of the other pedal offerings but time will tell.
It just blows my mind how upset people can get over a pedal.
Spencer makes a great quality product and don’t take it wrong , but there are tons of other great pedals out there that are easily acquired.
There are many small builders out there with great products just hoping and trying and struggling to be the next 3 Leaf or Broughton , JohnK or Dunwich But Nobody wants to take a gamble and give them a chance.
Many barley charge more than the sum of the parts just in hopes of being discovered. Most small / boutique builders build out of passion and not for profit. The money is just a bonus.
Problem is human nature is to want what you can have.
It’s not about the thing it’s about the getting.
The harder it is to get the more you want it. I myself am guilty of this .
Just my 2 cents,
Peace
Matt

Hoping to add and not confuse.

I ordered and asked for the “guitar mod” because based on the description it sounded like you need to ask for a specific tweak.

When I verified what “guitar mod” meant, he calls HIGH GAIN.

From Spencer:

“Yes that's what I call it. It increases the gain and moves the focal point of the distortion into the upper midrange while cutting some low end. The mod used to be more than just that, but for this batch I incorporated a lot of the changes into the standard circuit. You will still want the HIGH GAIN version if you are using it primarily on guitar.“

He also verified that a HIGH GAIN version will indicate underneath the bottom plate.

He was quick to respond and I’m excited to check it out. I have the 2022 Doom 2 for bass, so thought this might be fun for guitar.

Hoping just to help as a fan!

He was quick to verify my questions, so if the time comes, he is responsive.

When I get it, I will mount to the hood of my 2002 Honda Accord as a status symbol. ;)

So just to confirm, if I want the guitar tuned version, I still have to specify this when checking out? Because he mentioned something about tuning an RC filter in the gain section

Depends on how close you stand to your amp.
