Lol. There are some A+ crushed dreams going on in this thread!!! The biznezz advice on how he should sell stuff going forward is my favorite. I dunno, but selling out in less than 1 minute means it worked pretty well. Sorry not everyone who wanted got but that’s the facts no matter what. I plain old forgot to try…it isn’t fair, Spencer should have called me and reminded me and then set aside pedals for true fans like me :rolleyes::rollno: but no…instead he favored apple fanbois.

Whilst I can appreciate Spencer expressing some desire to distribute his sales a bit more, these nonsensical suggestions aren’t going to make anything any better…the same number of people are trying for the tiny supply. No matter what changes are implemented someone is gonna be butt hurt that the method was less than ideal for them and they missed out. Here’s an idea, instead of building more pedals, why doesn’t Spencer spend his time implementing a reservation system that you’ll still get shut out on…lol. He shouldn’t be leaning in to help out posters on talkbass. Talkbass posters is one of the problems.

I bought the blue kit from Bass Direct in the UK a couple of weeks back, as well as a red module from Spencer a few days later. I’m due to pick my bass up late next week from the luthier that’s been installing it and making a few other mods to my jazz. I’ll report back.

I think you need to contact Sqaurespace and put a request in. Spencer doesn't code for SquareSpace. Same as many other businesses trying to sell stuff online. They use Shopify, SquareSpace and other store fronts / back ends. So you are limited to the feature set of that particular provider.

I'd be curious though to see how quickly the other pedals sell out. If it is the same sorts of speed for the other batches, i'd totally agree. But we may have seen the initial rush and then it may peter out a bit depending on the pedal. I'd hope that after a little while and with som regular batches dropping the main buyers are satisfied and things may slow down. It could also mean there may be stock in his online store and that would drastically drop scalpers prices to something reasonable as why would you pay double to a scalper when you can go to the source and get it at the normal price.

Guys, I know it doesn’t improve it, but I do want to apologize for going tf off the other day. In hindsight, I realize I was only adding more toxicity.

Been going through the wringer after a recent death in the family and some of my fam fighting over money. I got pretty triggered and I’m sorry for projecting that pent up rage in here. I’m also sorry for the weird humblebrag(?) I slipped in there about getting one (don’t know where it came from).

Oh I’m sorry for the android discrimination. You guys face so much daily discrimination, I’m sorry to pile on lol.

What I want most tho, is for everyone to have their dream rig. I also want everyone to be happy doing what makes them happy (looking at Spencer as he continues to evolve the 3Leaf Brand).

Wishing you all the best as I go retreat back into the darkness. Cheers!

I've always seen it like this, MK3>D2>Proton

If it were me, the Proton would reside in the middle, but people do like to try the Doom lineup. I loved it, but in the end couldn't settle on just one setting, I found myself fiddling too much. Octaves rule, and the Proton is so close to the Chromatron I'd have to like it, but in the past that seems to be the case. It's been so long though since the sales have ran, so things may have changed.

If he really wanted to hit it out of the park, the PWNZOR would have a listing

I kind of wish Spencer could do what Chase Bliss has done most recently with their direct sales. They open up an enrollment period, anyone who wants a pedal preorders and will eventually receive a pedal. Then (however Chase Bliss decides to close the preoder period....whether parts availability or not wanting to push orders out past a certain amount of months) they close the preorder window. So at least if you are an avid follower of their work and jump on, you will get a pedal.

It's sounds like Spencer has had a lot of difficulty sourcing some parts and stuff like that so maybe a model like this wouldn't work. But let me tell you, it was just so nice ordering a Generation Loss mk II and knowing that even if I got pushed to another batch, I was going to be receiving one. It also killed the scalpers and their $1000 sales on the original Chase Bliss/Cooper FX collab. and those went to what maybe reasonable prices of some nice Chase Bliss history should be.

This is not a knock on the idea - I think the CB model is solid. That said, the scale between what they're doing and what Spencer/3Leaf is doing is huge. Chase Bliss has a staff page on their website that includes 18 people. Spencer is a one-man operation.

+1 that is a major factor to consider. The guy does deserve some grace. Is his gf no longer helping out with CS support?

No idea on the CS thing. And I'm not even talking about whether or not grace is warranted here. My point is that 3Leaf is more like a side-gig/project compared to Chase Bliss being a full time business that employs people. That's saying nothing about the quality of Spencer's pedals - they're great. It's just the reality of what the 'brand' has been over the last 6+ years.

3Leaf seems more like the OG Dunwich. It's one person making pedals when they have the inspiration, time, and parts to do so. If they want to scale up, they're likely looking for assembly/shipping help, as Dunwich did. A company like CB can schedule production, marketing, shipping, etc. with staff that are being paid to do dedicated jobs. That's completely different.

100%. I am fully part of the problem. Just as all the people who post here saying hey guys look more pedals are gonna be for sale next week. If not for this thread I wouldn’t even know that Spencer was back to building. If it wasn’t for all the discussion around resales I wouldn't be considering getting one of these new Doom2s even though I have one from a previous batch. Maybe I’ll prefer the new color and then sell my other one and make money by selling it below reverb prices in an instant…or I will list it as trade bait for other hard to get stuff. If not for this thread I would never have known that apple pay is a faster way to check out than PayPal (that was an awesome tip to learn). All the hype is the problem and the thread feeds it.

I don’t offer solutions because I don’t really think there are solutions worth pursuing and ultimately at the end of the day we are talking about a luxury toy that we all want to play with. Good for Spencer! I am happy he is able to sell his stuff so easily…I wish he wouldn’t worry himself about people whining on the internet cause no matter what, that’s a given. I think we’d all prefer Spencer spend his time making more pedals available instead of learning how to e-commerce better, but now he’s gonna spend time trying to fix an unfixable problem.


It dances around the lines of entitlement and that gets gross…but what else are to talk about on the internet?!

This is the way Taylor is doing orders with Iron Ether as well. It does seem like it gives us mere mortals a much better chance of getting one, and Taylor is a one-man shop as well.
