$67 Glarry P-Bass

Looks like the same body wood as my €84 Cherrystone brand P/J bass that I bought just out of curiosity and it turned out to be a very nice bass. Light weight, nice chunky neck, good tone, and through a Sadowsky outboard preamp you'd never guess it's a cheap Chinese bass. I replaced the strings, shimmed the neck and the rod needed a half turn, and the neck is dead straight since then.

Got a link for Cherrystone?

GLARR2.jpg My Glarry p bass has completed the transition to GLARR - dark ruler of the planet Omicron Persei 54.
EMG Geezer signature pup / all electronics. Was my first experience with the no solder gimmack - very cool!
Black pick guard that does not fit so well - but good enuff.
Cheap-O black tuners from Wham-O (or was it Ronco?)
Extra string holdy thing on headstock - beacause they sent me (4) and I ordered (1)?
Old heavy bridge I had from days gone by - way more mass
My first ever set of flat wound strings
Self setup with low action
While not impressive - he has earned his place as the man-cave bass (no worries about others playing).
He is here. He is Glarr.

Yup - Glarr was almost Larr, arry, larry...and every combo that acetone would provide. Glarr plays well for a bass that is now totaled under $200 - the fun I have / will have with Glarr is way more...maybe even $245.50.. :)

I also got the Glarry Jazz bass...he is next up for shenanigans.
Side note: I emailed Glarry...told him Glarr demands a maple neck / fretboard brother - and he should cost less than $80. He sent me a link for and after market neck - so it looks like I have leverage...?

I've been enjoying my P bass so much that my curiosity got the best of me. I asked them if they had any plans to offer a 5er.

"Hi,

Our 5 string bass is estimated to be on sale at the end of this year or at the beginning of next year.

Kind Regards!
Glarry Service Team"
Thanks for making the enquiry @CatchaCuda .

I've recently been selling off unused instruments and have parted with 2 MM basses and 2 Fender guitars so think I could afford a 5 string Glarry. It would stand next to my computer desk along with my El Cheapo kit P bass and see daily use.

I put a set of Fender 7250M strings on it (Glarry Jazz Bass) and was shocked at how much volume boost I got. At my normal settings I only needed to barely pluck and got big boom out of 'em. There is a lot of midrange boost also, for how I like it I had to scoop some mid out to get that deep "invisible" bass effect.
Everything gets boosted and it leaves me in need to reduce what I need to instead of boosting what I'd like.
Maybe not believable but true, a tremendous boost in output.
A good bass with bad strings wont sound as good as a bad bass with good strings IMHO -same goes for drums & their skins!
