...leads me to believe that Ibanez created and is marketing this to the ultra-heavy multi-string guitar community as a "Metal Baritone Guitar" who are currently playing 27.5" scale 7 & 8-strings . I think they used the SR neck and body as a better & more stable "platform" than their typical RG-style body... there's little to this instrument and the way it's marketed that says "Bassist" to me.

I don't care much for the semantics of it - is it a bass? Is it a guitar? Oh, grow up, who cares, it's awesome - but I am deadly keen to hear what it sounds like. With an octave fuzz.

It has more bass strings than guitar strings...I think that makes it pretty "bass-ey". If it were lacking the low B, I might think of it as more of a guitar. Especially so if it lacked the low E as well.

But this thing can go lower than a standard tuned 4-string bass, so I would definitely call it a bass.

Similar but only a 6 string.
Played on at my local Guitar Center and it's interesting because it's tuned E-A-D-G, then the fretless strings are just D and G again. I actually liked playing it a lot, but I digress.
