A Just For Fun Thread - "Coolest looking cabs\stacks"

I wish they still made rack tuners. I think there’s still a place for them. A high quality tuner with a really clean pass through. Foot switchable. Silent when engaged. Doesn’t even have to be a full rack. Half rack would be fine. Doesn’t have to be a fancy display. I just need to be able to see it in the dark. And the manufacturer should throw in a 1’ high quality cable. Runs on some kind of lithium battery that I can charge through USB with mega hours of standby time. (I don’t want more things to have to plug in)
Is it just me?
I still have my Korg rack mount tuner. Bought it when they first came out over 30 years ago. It doesn’t have a foot switch but it still works great. Super easy to use.

Those look like TL-606 cabinets (what Mesa used for the 1x15). Wonderful sounding cabinets.
They are that, loaded with Emi Kappalites.
This rig sounds really good, There's little I could do to make it better I think. Tubes would be the only move up, and even then the preamp on the Peavey is better than most, for my preference.
Anyway yeah, I like the cabs. Thanks for the good words, you guys.

I have a couple of TL-606 cabinets still loaded with EV-15L drivers. I'm 66 and they are a bit unwieldy for the weight. I use them for Subs for a small PA. You think the Kappas would do for that?

Put this together last summer for my Festival Rig. Cannot stop smiling when get to use it!! Behold...

I KNEW I recognized the port shape of the new Genzler "classic" series cabs from somewhere!

On another note, I love the pickup config of that P-Bass! Maximizes the variation of tone on the lowest strings! Smart! Only way I would do it differently is to use traditional pole config on the front pickup and MM-style big poles on the rear pickup. Been looking for a potential modification for my old Korean P-clone and feeling inspired by this!

For subs? Maybe try the 3015LF, which is closer to that function. For a small room pa I'd figure.
I don't know that they're subs per se, but they're said to be good for the low end of a bi-amp system.
Mine are just full-range, though they do handle some nice low end.

No, they aren't subs per se, but we bi-amp them with a pair of JBL 12" EONs. Yes, very nice for small-medium rooms, 150 people or so, and we don't play extra loud.

Winnowed down to budget, but it doesn't sound it.

Back when that series of Peavey Bass was in production, I really, really wanted one. Then I was offered a great deal on a mint Marshall Major head, so I went that route.

Fast forward 40 some years and the band was auditioning singers at a local rehearsal studio. On the stage was that amp sitting on top of an Ampeg 8x10 (with only 7 speakers in it). Man it sounded great!

I often think that had I bought the Peavey, I could have avoided an insane amount of buying and selling over the years.

I might be able to say the same... I've gone through an embarrassing amount of gear. After playing through this amp, I am quiet, in a good way. I'm happy with the sound, and finally, that's all I want. I don't know if less is more, but the right thing is definitely enough.

I'm bringing it to put through the Ampeg fridge next rehearsal. After your short review there I'm a little more enthused...

I don't blame you one bit for going for the Marshall...

Yeah, the options available to combine the clean and the overdrive. I think my MK-III was part of the path to get there.

It was a customization requested by Michael Anthony himself for this amplifier. The VB-3 specifically the overdrive channel can easily be dialed out to sound like a chainsaw. It is possible to EQ it correctly but Michael wanted the flexibility to blend the two channels together. I love it!! I'm told less than 50 were ever made.

The VB-3 with electro harmonix preamp tubes and 6CA7 power tubes really smooth out the OD channel IMO.
