cmon,

no more pics??? must i do everything myself? ;)

from this friday's Rutgers' gig. bandmates arent crazy slammers, so thought the wee pair would do fine for me. then again, couldnt help myself, and thought i'd bring out the ol' bad boy aggie setup. and good lawdy was the tone ever soooooooo good. :hyper:

and despite being wall to wall carpet, the room was crazy boomy. thankfully a nice medium narrow cut around 400-500Hz quickly alleviated that. parametric EQ = yay!

Very nice! I'll have a photo of my two B-1's (probably with my WWU) pretty soon, but that rig is sweet!!! I should be able to replicate it pretty soon, as my DB 680 came in this Friday! I am also working on a Sadowsky of my own!!! :D

Two questions, though. What brand/type of rack cases are you using, and what kind of instrument cable are you using there? It looks like possibly a nice homebrew model...

hehe, nice tom,

glad your gettin' in on the Sadowsky gear, and cant wait for the pics, man...

to answer your questions:

no special cases. just the simple Acme padded covers for the cabs, and plain ol' SKB cases for the aggies. with my car's cush back seats, no problems with travel.

but good eye! that's my trusty 15' Alessandro "Instrument Two" cable. George Alessandro is best known for making some killer boutique guitar amps, but he's also been making some killer cabling that i love too.

what really shocked me was how blurry and indistinct my old Monster cabling sounded compared to the Ally's! one of those "taking off the blanket" moments. i have yet to try other cables like Evidence, Audio Analysis, Zoalla, and while i'm sure they're just as good, i just happen to like supporting a local maker's killer work.

FYI, when i went to pick up that very cable at his shop in Philly, he was just finishing an amp for David Gilmour. sounded terrific together. ;)

I just want to chime in here as I had my first experience with an Acme low B2 today. Well, first off, something was blown in it so I didn't get to hear the whole deal. Anytime I'd play down low it'd buzz. So, I played up higher on the neck to get an idea of the sound. Very cool I have to say. I was much more impressed than I ever thought I'd be. It really does sound quite flat in frequencey response. It has some extended low end but that was a welcomed surprise (the buzzing wasn't). I have always prefered 12's for speakers but that cab was very different from any 10" loaded cab that I've tried. I did want to hear more high end cut but I remember now writing this that the controls on the back were only half way up. If it weren't a busted cab I'd go back and check it out again. All in all, great design and a great sound. I'd love to have an oppurtunity to play some Acme's side by side with my Bergantino's.

Beat me to it! I should add, though, that my Low B-2 used in that shootout was fried by a "buddy" some time after the shootout, forcing me to replace the drivers (the light bulb saved the mid and tweet). When I did this, I found that it sounds even better, leading me to believe that the drivers were probably a little "tired" when I bought it (used). Accordingly, I now feel that my Low B-2 has a bit more defined lows and more articulate mids than when I did my "shootout."

This is reason enough to do a fresh comparison, but I also have some more 2x10's in the stable. The total collection of 2x10's (as of 3/30/05!) includes EA VL-210B, EA CxL-210, EA NL-210, ACME Low B-2(II), Accugroove Tri 210L, Dr. Bass 2x10 (custom), and Bergantino HT210. Now all I need is time and opportunity...

If you have any more specific questions regarding ACME, EA, and Accugroove, please let me know.

Thanks so much Tom. I've always prefered 12" speakers but that Acme cab is really haunting me. Do you feel that it can cut as well in a live situation as a Berg 112?

Well, the ACME's don't really "cut" in the same way as an HT112. The sound is rather different, and the ACME is more deep, polite, high-fi, but not really cutting or punchy.

Not to derail this thread, but has anyone tried installing removeable casters on their B-2?

I considered it but bought a dolly board instead. The thing is, a Low-B2 is a pretty light cab, only 50lbs, and it's nice and compact as well. The handles let it down and make it feel heavier than it is, so I added a strap handle (a la Low-B1) to the long side by the mid/high units. With the strap handle you can carry a B2 in each hand without much trouble.

I use a folding hand truck (Ruxxac Fold-Flat) to cart my pair of Low B-2s and amp rack around. Works like a champ. I stack everything on a dolly board on stage, in case I have to move it around after I get set up.

Is the Ruxxac tall enough to hold two B2s and a rack without it being difficult to hold the handle?
