the BTB Volo ought to be easier for OP to play than long scale 34-35 incher basses. The latest Volo models, the BTB845V and BTB 846V, IMO, are even nicer looking. Still... 32-33 inch basses are considered medium scale length, not exactly what OP wants. He wrote short scale on the thread title.

Active short scale basses

I was going to say the Squier Mikey Way Mustang, but I actually looked at the details, and the pickup is not active. All these years I had just assumed that it was.
Don't know who the hell Mikey Way is, but the bass looks cool.
Anyone know if the racing stripes are painted in, or just stickers that can be removed?

Yes it comes in either an active or passive model. But only in gloss black colour.
Oh, it's absolutely horrible, in a most endearing way.
Every episode contains at least one scene where the cast manhandles a telephone pole sized needle, rappels or climbs utilizing a spool of thread, or saves the day with a rubber band or a screwdriver.
I guess they figured the average ten year old wouldn't remember these things week to week back then........what with the thalidomide and all.
I have a 4 string resonator bass that is 32" scale. It was passive but I added an EMG pickup and left it with passive tone and volume. I actually diddnt know it was short scale for a couple of years. Short scale is neat because the strings have a little slack and let's higher action play a little easier.

I had the passive SS version.
It sounded really good and had a lot of nice features, but I didn't like the 20" neck radius.
too much coin for you, but my Spector shorty with Nordstrand Big Splits and Darkglass Tone Capsule is everything I wanted in a short scale bass. I've tried many, still own this one.

Threw Geezers in it. Sounds great. I can't put a D tuner on it though so I can't use it with my band.
The TMB100 is a short scale PJ with a 2 band active. It's one of my few basses that does not have ultralites on it. Sorry I couldn't be helpful there.
Mis-typed? The TMB 100 is a 34" scale bass — long scale. The TMB 30 is the short scale version, and it is passive.
Is it really? Feels like a short scale, although admittedly I don't play it as often as other basses.
Stevorebob is already correct, TMB100 is the long scale Talman bass. And OP already has the short scale version of the Talman bass, the TMB30.
