Well idiots tried to rob me again on Saturday. This time it looks like they tried to pop the door of its hinges with a pry bar judging from the damage on the door. They weren't successful however. My alarm once again went off and scared off the little sweethearts. They are lucky that they did not get inside. My dog (an approx. 45-50 lb pitbull who I rescued from an abusive home) would have loved to meet them.
Not the same people this time. Last time two witnesses saw two white males around 14 or 15 walk up to my front door before they kicked it in. This time my neighbor said she saw a black two door nissan with 3 to 4 black males around 16 to 19 in my driveway about a minute before she heard my alarm go off. I don't live in a terrible area. There haven't been many breakins in my neighborhood. I am starting to think that someone knows that I have music equipment in my home and is tipping off others so that they can break in.
Strangely enough, a week ago on March 30th, I had a kid (sounded like a teenager) call me at 11:30 at night from a blocked number on my home land line. He claimed to be "Mike". Mike is a general enough name that of course I know a Mike. When I suggested a last name to him, he latched on to it and said that that was him. He was adamant that I come over right now to "hang out with him" and he gave me an address that is about 15 minutes away. I played stupid and let him think he had me snowed. Told him OK, then called Mike on my cell phone. I already knew that he hadn't called me, but Mike confirmed that he wasn't the person who had called me. Hell. Mike and I are getting old. We don't call each other up at nearly midnight to "hang out". I thought it likely that it was a kid across the street from the address I was given wanting to get a few laughs from watching someone show up they just prank called. Now I am starting to wonder if it wasn't an attempt to get me to leave so someone could rob me. That notion seemed unlikely at the time as it was pouring down rain that evening, and most burglaries happen during the day during nicer weather.
I don't hang around many teenaged kids, so the pool of people who know that I have this stuff in my home is rather small. I have my suspicions about who it may be. I wonder if they are stupid enough to try breaking in while I am home.
