Almost got robbed...

Kael,

That story scares the crap out of me.

And not for the reason you might think.

Pit bulls.......guns......... don't tread on me attitude.........and now a concealed handgun on your person at all times.

That's a potent, toxic mix and it can't end well.

I don't what happened to you or who did it, but something or someone has taken your humanity.

I hope you find it and get it back, really.

Peace,
Fo'

Are you serious!?!?!?!?!???!?!?! I guess we should just let criminal elements tread all over us in the name of being 'more compassionate'. That's just weakness, and it doesn't make you any better than anyone. The 'right to bear arms' in this country is also the 'Right to not to bear arms'. Take your pic. At least you have a choice. I for one know of one particular instance where me showing my .38 revolver stopped someone from robbing my car, my Sadowsky, and my all Aguilar rig. Maybe I should have just givin it all to him in the interest of my own 'humanity'.:rollno:

I was a gun/pitbull owner before all this mess started. I fail to see how it relates to my humanity. I was raised going to the gun range, going hunting, etc. The majority of my family is in law enforcement, but even those who aren't carry firearms. I suppose you'd feel that my 78 yr old grandmother has a lack of humanity because she carries a .38 smith & wesson revolver (with pink "pearl" handles  ) in her purse?

I've no desire to shoot anyone. I am just not naive enough to think that dialing 911 is sufficient to protect myself if someone decides to pull a home invasion.

PS: It really wasn't my intent to debate firearms in this thread. More of a "be aware of the potential of getting your gear ripped off" intent was behind my posting this thread. In that vein, every one reading this immediately go and write down the serial numbers of every piece of gear you have right now (preferably on the back of a pictureof the gear) and store a copy somewhere other than your home. Makes dealing with insurance companies a lot easier if you need them.

We need the wussy protesters and bleeding hearts to show that America isn't full of vigilante rednecks.

And we need the Vigilante Rednecks to show that America can't just be taken over because were full of wussy bleeding hearts and war protesters.

that way we don't look too harsh, or too wimpy to other countries, its how we work and how we've always worked.

There will most likely always be civil conflict within America regarding whatever our government is doing.

How about some of the other big debates lately ?

Remember that huge Earthquake in the middle east awhile back, we sents lots of food and supplies, then we also cried "Why take care of other countries, we have people starving in our own streets, save them, America first !"

blah blah, its how we work

Sir, I applaud you for being an Equal Opportunity Offender.:D

Oh I have homeowners insurace. If I get robbed I'll be covered and able to replace my gear. Problem is that I'll be down without any thing for a while till the insurance company pays out. That would blow.

Homeowner's insurance won't cover your music equipment if you've used them out of your house. So if you are a gigging musician of any sort, you really need to get musician's insurance.

Of course I'm serious........ It's a serious subject.

If you are prepared to take a life over your bass and rig, that's a problem.

I've never had to make that decision, Thank God. My Dad did.Several times. He was a cop in the 70's. He shot and killed 2 people in the line of duty. After investigations, both were ruled "clean shoots".

He never got over it, ever. Always 2nd guessing his decision. That is the permanence of death. You can't change it or take it back.

Oh yeah, what's with the "Right to Bear Arms" crap? I don't want your guns........ It is my right to be scared sh**less that you own one.

We can debate the "right to arm a militia" another time. It's off topic.........

My point is that the vicarious thrill of pondering killing someone I sense in this thread is disturbing and scary.

Some of you guys may live in my neighborhood.......Holy crap!!

I really don't see this 'vicarious thrill' evident anywhere in this thread. I sincerely hope that I never ever have to take another human life, and actually I was within my 'legal' rights to kill the guy who tried to jack all of my gear/car, as he did have a box knife. Instead, I showed him that I meant business and we went our seperate ways. I'd much more prefer to have my gun as a deterrent than as an opportunity to blast the first crackhead that breaks in my house. And yes, there are those 'gun nuts' who pray that someone will break in to their home so that they can try out the .45 with the laser sighting, but really those nuts are just a minority.

I'm aware that the guns and dogs were before the robbery attempts. I was more concerned with the references to "blood and brain matter" and you would "save money on dogfood". I guess the dog will attack, kill, and eat the intruder.

That's what I'm referring to regarding your humanity, Sir.

I agree with your last post. I don't know how we got on gun control. I own two myself.

I didn't want this to become a pissing match either. I know when your talking about loved ones and valued property's safety, the rhetoric gets dialed up.

Once again..........

Peace,
Fo

I can't think of one circumstance having a gun would have make me or my family safer.

Would you say that's true for everyone or just yourself? That's a totally serious question and I'm not trying to pick a fight. Just curious. I suppose that if you're not comfortable with or lack the knowledge to use a firearm, I can understand your point.

I can think of a ton of instances where me having a gun in my hand would make myself and my family safer.

Thanks to both of you. I need to check in to that, as their are plenty of shady characters where I live currently.

Just call your insurance provider. That was one of my first questions when we signed on for home owners insurance. Mine covers it, but a friend of mine had to take out some kind of specialty writer on it or something.

Hi, there's 6 billion people in the world and I would never be crass enough to think that I could speak for all of them :)
