I posted a Travis Bean Designs short scale TB2000 a while back. I’ve since traded that to another member here.
Over the weekend a 1976 Travis Bean TB2000 bass was posted up for sale on craigslist in Omaha. For sale by original owner! Complete with original invoice and TB brochure. It wasn’t a steal, but it was priced well below current market pricing, especially considering it’s a painted one.
It’s in really good condition. The lower sides have some paint damage from reacting to the case foam. I was able to get most of it knocked down with fine sandpaper and polishing compound. It was used back in the day for sure, there are various small scratches on the body, and tarnishing on the neck, but it was clearly well cared for. For 47 years old it looks beautiful. It feels awesome, like your old favorite boots, it’s very comfortable. 11lbs of comfortable, lol. It sounds absolutely bananas!!!
The short scale TBD might be the best bass ever when it comes to ergonomics. The full sized vintage version has the tiniest amount of neck dive, and sounds considerably better in my opinion.
I might have a new favorite bass.
