An important reminder to us that it’s the artist, not the tools. But the tools are fun.

yes, but…

i think there's a bit to unpack here.

(just riffing)

seems to me that good tools do not make a bad artist into a good artist, but they do further the good (or great) artist's possibilities and results in their work.

and i think of artists whose work was influenced by their choice and access to tools (which drove aesthetic choices, etc.).

of course, lesser artists with the same tools won't create the same quality/body of work.

imo, good quality tools help one further one's ideas of course one *has to have* ideas to begin with.

While that's true, I think it's also true that a good carpenter would prefer to use better tools. He might even make his own better tools.

Got inspired to make another sketch - wanted to utilize my Alembic doubleneck and had a video clip that got me to work a little harder in iMovie. The Subharmonicon was just too loud in my original phone mix, so dove into ProTools and tweaked things a bit.

Thank you - honestly, it's just me fumbling around with filters in iMovie. I have some ideas for stuff that I'm not sure I know how to make happen video-wise. But I am glad that I am finally making music that I have conceptualized for almost two decades!

Thanks! The overdrive is the Tech21 Geddy Lee MP40 SansAmp. The top neck I'm playing is basically 30" fretted tuned E-E (like a Bass VI - it was tuned A-A or B-B or something baritone-like when I got it but I couldn't bond with it like that), the bottom neck is 34" fretless. This thing is a beast! I can only play the fretless sitting down, and the fret markers (just dots on the side of the neck) are really faint. I'm glad to be recording with it though.
