re: fighting Black Friday/Cyber Monday urges
I was this close to springing for a new Emerald Balor acoustic bass guitar last week...had a brief online chat with one of their web bots about shipping cost and potential customs fees, was feeling all set to pull the trigger, then decided it was still too much of an impulse buy, especially when if I really wanted to scratch the ABG itch I could just wander into the local Guitar Center and buy some POS that was maybe only a third as good as an Emerald, but 1/8th the price.
But the web bot dude sent me an email the next day saying "Hope our chat was helpful. Were you thinking of taking advantage of our Black Friday Sale?"
Foolishly I go back online, and the bass that I'd been looking at was now marked down $1,000 off! Arrggh!!!! Wut do?
So I make a deal with myself: Gonna hold off for the weekend, and if it's still at the Black Friday price today, Imma buy it.
Fortunately (?) someone with more GAS or less hesitancy to spring for impulse buys had snatched it up over the weekend. No longer available. Guess I dodged a bullet.
