I saw the video for the new Moog and wasn't super impressed. I guess it's nice that they have a model which is lighter and smaller than a Minimoog, but to me it "smells" like this is what to expect from Moog's new international corporate owners: less hand made parts and wooden panels from North Carolina and more plastic mass-produced stuff from factories full of people who don't personally care much about synths or music. We shall see. It's not like they haven't made cheaper stuff before, that little monosynth kit they made a few years back comes to mind.

Many Moog fans were/are upset - I think they still do stuff in Asheville, NC but a lot of production moved to China? I'm just glad to have the Moog products I have (DFAM, Subharmonicon, Sirin, & Grandmother) plus some older Big Briar Moogerfoogers from before Robert Moog got the rights to the name back in the 2000s. Moog has always had its ups and downs...
Apparently the NC facilities were just assembly lines for Chinese-populated circuit boards for most of their products for many years anyway (only a few of the limited top of the line products were fully built in the US). From what I’ve read the last few years there were alot of less than awesome things happening behind the scenes at Moog under the previous owner (reading into the details behind the spurious “employee-owned” set-up for example), it may be that the InMusic buy could be net positive for a company that was already in decline.

I just learned about bassist Georgia South from Nova Twins. She’s doing some fuzzed out heavy sounds along with a bunch of modulation and pitch shifting and even using the Source Audio Ring. The music is heavy + pop + electronic stuff. They claim it’s all pedals and no synths. It’s not ambient but it is creative, and they’ve been at it for 10+ years now. There’s a lot about their music that I like.
More music I missed, somehow. Love this long evolving form. It's like a black metal post-rock track.

I's not a huge fan but I respect the legacy. This one fits the thread.
Maybe we need links to songs/tracks from bands we wouldn't expect to be here but somehow kinda fit.
Not a huge fan either but the legacy/influence of Celtic Frost is @/&:&: undeniable for extreme metal.

She almost sold me on the SA ring control. I’m not sure I’ve got the skills to operate it cleanly, but she makes it look like a bunch of fun.
are they a duo that does Godflesh set up witb a drum machine or do they have a drummer?
