A collaboration between DSP wizards Meris and Chase Bliss, the CXM 1978 is the pair's take on the Lexicon 224, an early digital studio reverb unit released in 1978 that featured a fader-equipped remote.

Monday morning 100% improvised, 1st take. hadnt done this in quite a while.

To add to what others have already said. I read this and thought the same thing..."don't worry, we know it is one take and improvised" as that's usually the joke when anyone posts some noise-centered audio. Definitely took me by surprise when I hit play and heard (mostly) clean bass slowly and carefully chomping through some chordal changes.

Anyone here following this CXM reverb about to drop? It looks like Chase Bliss and Merris joined forces and added sliders to a thing, like the new Chase Bliss pre/dist box.

Yeah, this was announced almost a year ago I think...right around the same time they were announcing the automatone, they both started teasing this reverb unit. I've been following along...I don't expect to get either unit, but I've heard some amazing reviews on the automatone and seen some pretty compelling demos of how cool it is and sounds. That price tag though...

Hard to say. The one in that video has wood sides, which looks more like the preamp pedal. Not that they couldn't have used the same sides for a prototype. I also don't hear any distorted sounds or see any other dirt pedals on that board, so it might be, unless it is the preamp pedal being used for his clean tone.

I'd still like to hear some demos and rea da full feature set. I'm guessing the price will be silly high, and unlikely to get me to lust for something other than what I have.

The boutique pedal market clearly is showing that people are willing to dish out massive amounts of $$ for the products they make. Some are good, some....mmm, not so much.

I think you're right. People with boutique-gear money have money for boutique gear. Lots of those folks aren't sinking their disposable funds into vacations and other luxury activities in COVID times, so there's funds burning a hole in the pocket. As an example, I normally budget for a trip to Europe every year or two, and that isn't happening, so maybe a new bass will show up. I don't need another compressor, and there are probably better ones than the Hilbish design for the money, but I might snag one of those just to match up with my other Hilbish pedals acquired this year.

On top of that, there will always be a group of customers out there with that "holy grail" GAS that think THIS will be the one.
