Sold my busted tape 4 track so I have a few bucks.....not CT5 money but I can definitely get a Verb.....and maybe a cool mangler if I’m wise with what I chose.

Isn't that how it was though? Music was valued differently. I mean, in some ways we were being manipulated, but in other ways music had great meaning, not just the music itself but the image, the packaging. Sometimes it was just advertising, sometimes it was art. That's the thing though, it wasn't easy to know what was "good" vs. "bad" or what I was going to like. I guess I got a lot of my information from Guitar Player magazine so I tended to find some pretty good stuff, or at least I was aware of significant musicians in a wide variety of genres. So I found out about Lonnie Mack, Hubert Sumlin, etc. So I guess I was hunting out music. It was fun! I found a reissue of the original Lonnie Mack stuff, also an album he put out in the mid-'80s with Stevie Ray Vaughan (on LP - Tokyo had an amazing selection of imported vinyl). I'm glad I wasn't just into the "popular" stuff in the guitar world even, like SRV, but was encouraged to dig into the music it grew out of. Do young people still do that? I bet some do - now there's almost too much information, about too many things - it seems really lowest-common-denominator for a lot of stuff where the flashiness of the presentation may be what draws you in rather than the veracity of the information.

I'm digging in to the Zoia functions I haven't explored yet. I'm looking at things like "onset detection" and "envelope follower" and seeing how they could be useful. I didn't get the patch finished, but I started working on one with two delays and audio input levels determine which delay line gets the audio. Essentially the incoming audio will trigger a mixing mechanism and a cross-fade. I'm still not sure how I want it to respond, but I'm getting there. If it works, the tail of a sound will get a different delay, which might not be effective if the transients don't do anything interesting in the delay. However, it could work out that if a series of audio impulses like claps get sent in, then each clap will route to an alternating delay effect.

@ugly....one room 2 cigs is the one that stood out to me most. Definitely a departure from what I normally listen to but I am all about exploring new things to open my mind wider these days. Gonna check out the rest of your catalog over time.

There are words and some parts are gut improvised. So a mix of both.
Only the last vocal track is 100% written text.
