Ambient/Post-Rock/Textural bass playing thread

That's a pretty big small rig. Small to me means 'everything in one hand'.

In fairness, I probably bring only a single cab -- either the 15" or the 12" -- as often as I bring both. It can get stupidly portable, especially if I strap the head onto the outside of the bass gigbag with carabiners. Those Flite cabinets weigh next to nothing. I did a gig in Brooklyn a couple years ago where I walked a mile from the nearest subway stop to the venue, carrying that entire rig (both cabinets)!

@lordradish
Slowly building a little solo bass board.
Any favorite ambient pedals?
Or just plain favs?
Oh jeez, where to start? That Blackhole reverb that just came out would be something sweet and affordable, if I didn't have an H9, I'd already have it. Also check out some of those EHX synth/organ/mellotron pedals. Even though a lot of those sounds aren't the best in their raw form, they really make for an incredible base to tweak and turn into something else, because they're long and sustainy. Some nice tape delay thing is also key. Of course, it's all about the budget.

Well. I think Erica is getting my money when I go modular. This Black Hole DSP is awesome.

When you go modular.....

Alright. I’ll be doing a streaming noise event again, Saturday night from 7pm to 10pm Pacific. This is to make up for the one I couldn’t do last week. I’ve got a few new synth and Zoia ideas. Given my back’s state of pain and stiffness, I probably won’t play bass this time. I’ll post details/links. Tune in if you can. I won’t be offended if you don’t :)

Re: solo bass loop thing.

Hit a nice plateau this week.
Nothing good, just hit walls all week.

Found and awesome way to get instant mud crap. Overdub stuff with a $hizz load of reverb.

So to change things up. Practiced synth and mixer combo.
Two handed technic. One on the synth, other on the mixer played as an instrument.
Some good stuff happened there.

Wish on/off channel switches on mixer where non latching but that just doesn't exist.

Next, adding a second channel to the mixer.
So one hand on synth, one on mixer's 2 channel strips......challenge it will be.

Cheers.

Side note: anyone here know of a dirt pedal that can take line level in???
Would really like the wmd geiger counter....but open to other suggs.

You need one of those momentary arcade buttons that Buckethead has on his guitar.
Y’a, that is crazy cool. Wanted one on my bass that I use with my dual rig band.
Expensive mod, you have to drill the body n stuff......plus COVID ....luthiers are all very hard to get a hold of. Even one of my best buds fro some some of creepy weird reason doesn’t want to work on my gear anymore. (That is one crazy weird story right there.)
Maybe not an arcade button but a kill switch.

I edited my post just as you responded. Check the link I added.
Y’a, they made two custom pedals for my dual rig. Cool dude to work with.
They basically are just on\off boxes for 2 channels. Bass side and « guitard ». So I can switch either one on or off a will.
One is all passive with no LEDS and the 2nd one has LEDS for my Dad brain that goofed up once to many times starting a song not sure if a channel is on or off. NEWB FAIL!!!!!

Édit: killl switch is a good idea but will create problems since one of my hands is on the synth, other is on the mixer......how do I grow a 3 hand for the kill switch???
;)
