Holla if you find an old MPC in a dumpster, these hipster kids drove the prices up 100% in the last year alone!!!!! I could get a MPC 1000 for around 500$ cad now.....nothing under 1000$.

Yeah, those are silly expensive these days. When the MPC X first came out, I watched hours and hours of video demos and nearly pulled the trigger many times. MPC’s do have a ‘thing’ that is unique. I had two Akai S2000’s in the 90’s and really found the OS a bit maddening though they sounded great. The MPC OS I find even more maddening. Somewhere in there I got the Elektron bug, so it doesn’t really matter :)
Still waiting for my perfect sequencer, but the Octatrack sequencer comes close

if i use it *live* live, i wouldn’t be using it that way. least ways, it what i wanted to do.

so far, i find it much more intuitive to do drum machine parts with the mc than i do with ableton (but i haven’t used an external controller on that).

Careful what you wish for. It all works at Sweetwater, but then the stalking engineer will track you until you die. They’ll call five times to ask how you’re enjoying the mic stand you bought.

HEY I REALLY ENJOYED THAT MIC STAND, I TAKE IT ON PICNICS, AND KAYAKING. IT'S GOOD THAT THEY ASK, HATER.

I used to have what I considered to be an incredible working relationship with the sales guy at Sweetwater. Then suddenly he ditched me. Next guy made up a response, now have a third. Never hear from him, but he probably knows I am not very happy with them after years of purchases. On the plus side, my Sweetwater credit is not used as much! Went from 10+ stars regarding Sweetwater to a shrug. Now I go with Bass Central, Bestbassgear, even Zzounds. Just get me what I need, and I will go elsewhere than the salesperson for advice.

But seriously, Prymaxe has gone so far downhill... the stuff I want's never in stock when they have a coupon, and half the time the coupon doesn't apply to that thing.

In other news, working on the miniboard, it's almost complete.


I just got one of these, and I'm surprisingly impressed, as Mooer often makes a lot of garbage (had that Soul Shiver pedal for about five minutes), I think they upped their game a bit, in terms of the quality. I just ordered the D7 today...


and I have a volume pedal coming, so the only thing I have left for the miniboard is my mod pedal.


I'm still torn as to what to get, as I really like rotary, but there's not a good minipedal other than that Ventilator which is 2 or 300 bucks, and I need a thick chorus, too. The Alexander Wavelength looks good, but does vibe, not rotary, and the Keeley Dyno My Roto, apart from the stupid name, has rotary, chorus, and flange. I never use flange, but I'm hoping I can tweak it to sound more like a phaser. All I have left after that is for the Miezo to get here (about 3 weeks), and then get the battery pack for the PJ Double Four, and maybe another one for the miniboard.

Even though I don't contribute much, I do enjoy reading this thread - pretty much every day! One thing that helps is that I am really not in the market for new gear. (The only thing that tempts me is the new Moog bundle with the DFAM & Subharmonicon - hmm, still got that stimulus payment...)

I haven't done much electronic stuff lately, mostly been playing bass along with recordings to try and keep my calluses and limited chops up. But the other day I recorded a simple drone - Moog Sirin in drone mode with the oscillators tuned to root-fifth with the LFO sweeping the filter, tried to tune it to a temple bell which was very difficult given all the overtones. Decided to play bass along with it, been trying to get my video recording set-up going (plug everything in to my Zoom H6 as audio interface into iPhone 7). I still have my cursed Octavius Squeezer, played that into TC Electronic Flashback delay (I've got a couple of analog delays but the Flashback is easiest to set up quickly). I could have balanced the signals better, should probably have listened on headphones but thought I wanted my hair down for this one (though now that I watch the video maybe I shoulda worn the headphones?!!). Also wearing my new Amoeba/Uniqlo collaboration t-shirt - it's video, right? Gotta pay attention to the visuals lol. Also managed to get my Tangerine Dream Bootleg Box Set Vol. 1 behind me.
