I'd second that (or third that). I rarely use my H9's pitch based stuff, as it's very temperamental.
I use it quite a lot, but I also have a EHX Micro POG set to octave up (and 50% clean) for when I want chords with no delay and am playing legato.
Pitched things that work well for me on the H9: tuned delays, the whammy, the octaver, pitchfuzz. The octave up is ok on double stops if there are no 3rds.

by the way, if any of you are looking for what i think is a good ios synth, nlog, by the guy who did nave and quantum/iridium for waldorf, is very cool and not too expensive. i just went back and listened to the sounds i did years ago and it does some nice things.
It ain't cheap but there are two options.

There's also the Elektron desktop unit which is even less not cheap.
In a pedal format, I'd think the Zoia could get you there, but again, not cheap. Not the best "analog" distortion sounds, but that might be a plus with some of your work.

I especially liked the reverb module.
Will definitely check out the dirt oto one.
I already listened to Zoia and Elektron dirt clips and while cool, they don't tickle my fancy.
At the moment I use the dirt on my SP but I would like another one directly at the output of said sampler. (Easier to punch in and out fast with a hardware pedal)
Really working "tape machine " style with for the past few months.
With all this work, I'm getting somewhere.

or you could spend a couple thousand on a culture vulture. Or just buy a second of your favourite dirt pedal and run them dual mono style.
The line-level functionality that ugly wants would make the dual mono thing less likely to work with many pedals. Otherwise, that's not a bad idea that you could get going for $300-400 USD. The complexity is knob turning in a live setting if you want to fade the gain in/out, which would require a two-hand technique, which would be tough to do if both hands aren't free.

Ya, two mono pedals would raise many questions.
Phase, line level capability, summing two mono signals is very different than a stereo track or pedal.

Already practicing this alot this past year.
Sampler, mixer, EQ, sampler FX and multiple pedals all a the same time.
Next is a second sampler with different samples/loops etc......
example:
Sampler 1: high and mid range loops.
Contact mic samples......onboard fx ,pedal fx chain ....mixer.
Sampler 2: low , subs
Synth and drones......use only onbaord FX .
...mixer.
two pedals:
there are variances in knob travel and so forth. (i had a guy from ashdown explain to me that potentiometers can vary by 10% or more—forget the exact amount he said.)

My gear karma has sucked lately. My Fano bass was stolen recently, blew the mid drivers in my sealed 118 DIY cab last week. I got probably 1,500 loud gigs on that cab, so no complaints. Then I took my little Rumble 500 watt 210 combo to a local gig last night and it blew up in a rather dramatic fashion. So for the first time, I went out and paid retail for a cab. I’m a Mesa endorser and ordered two cabs from them but have no idea when they’ll show up. Like everything else these days, they’re on back order for who knows how long and I have a ton of gigs right now.
Wound up grabbing a Bergantino HDN212 today. Spendy little cab, but seemed to sound very nice at the store (they let me crank it really loud). 30 day return policy and I’ll know what I think after this weekends shows. Took my TBird bass and Mesa TT800 amp and it sounded terrific, so hopefully that’ll translate to a band mix.

I'd like to go to the music shop and check out some pedals but the tanker truck hasn't been able to resupply my local gas station yet. Here it comes now.

For the fans of Death (I know some of you are here) I just watched Death By Metal and really enjoyed it. It's a good doc on the band, and shows some Chuck's desire to not be stuck in the box of "death metal."
