Since curiosity kills the cat....why don't you all use FX loops if the Portaflexes have them?

I like having the wet and dry signals mixed together, it sounds multidimensional and gives the clean undertones with everything else that is going on with the FX and the PF's have that mix knob which works (albeit not for fuzz apparently...).

Don't want to hijack the thread about FX, so as you were gentlemen and ladies.

I've never used the effects loop on any amp I've ever owned. Never even tried it. I've never seen the point in using it. I can get all the tones I want out of my pedals as it is. I also can't be bothered with extra cables. I've got enough of them as it is in my band!

I'm in a similar situation. I don't run a loop on my main amp, so I don't both with it on my practice amp (PF-500). All my effects are set up in such a way that I get the tone I need from the box, blending - especially with pitch-shifting and synthy effects - would just be a pain, so I've never bothered with it.

If I had a racked piece of gear, I would probably use the blend if I wanted some dry signal in there. I like that I have it if I need it. Im not going to complain about features that are bypassable. Unlike lots of amp companies, they kept that in and also the stuff I really use like a mute switch (It's even foot switchable!).
The construction of this sub $400 amp is really good. Sure, it's a 2U amp in size, but it's still light, and has good quality knobs, and the fit and finish are really good. Better than my other micros that I have. It feels like an old amp design, but it's lighter. It's dead quiet for me at the amp output and the DI. Best investment this year!

I'm another person that doesn't use the (any) fx loop. My first amp didn't have one, so I didn't have a choice. When I got an amp that had one, I gave it a shot and felt like it changed the sound just enough to have to rework all my settings. I was using a Multi effect at the time, so I just never bothered with it... would've had to go in and reprogram everything rather than just adjusting a few knobs. I guess I've just been in the habit of running into the front of my amps ever since.

I've never tried the fx loop on the PF500, maybe I'll give it a shot and see what happens. Might be nice having a built in Blend on every effect...

I'm wondering about the PF115.
Would 2 of these cabs be cool as a 2x15 rig to go with my 7 pro?
I'm wondering if they have the punch/power to do me for when I don't have PA support?
I've been using a NV215, but have gotten rid of it due to back probs.

So, am going to go with 2 'light-ish' 1x15's.
I currently have 2 Mark Bass HR115 cabs, they sound fine....... But the PF115 sure kill 'em in the looks dept.!!!
I can offload the Mark Bass cabs ok,
So?????? Oh, also,
Anyone know if the 7 pro WILL fit in one of the PF115 cabs?
I know there was talk of this before, but don't know the outcome.

If you have a bad back you will want to add handles to the PF115. The single handle on top is not back friendly. I found handles that match the top one and ordered them to install on the sides. It's a boxy cab there is no confortable way to carry it by the handle.

If I am not mistaken the the tweeter blocks the 7 Pro from fitting.

Ya, the tweeter squelches mounting the 7 Pro on the lid. But I love the PF115, and I'm used to no side handles on my B-15 so it's are easy for me to move. It's as loud as any 115, and the sound is total B-15 vibe.

Ok, thanx. Pity the tweeter stops the 7 pro from being made a 'flip-top'!
It's amazing how they got the PF115HE to be 45lbs, which is lighter than my Mark Bass HR115 NEO loaded cab @ 53lbs.

I suppose I'm being petty, but I'm so tempted. 2 x PF115HE cabs would not only sound great, but they LOOK so SWEET! Especially compared to the yellow cones.......
I was/am one who's always quite liked the Mark Bass cabs colour scheme.
No doubt who's prettier in this contest tho!

Yeah, good point! I've done that with one of the MB115's already!
I suppose I could remove the tweeter out of one PF115 & mount the 7 PRO in that cab, & leave the other PF115 as is.
As far as lifting goes, the MB HR115 ain't a REAL easy lift. I mean they ain't heavy, but are bulky.
Quite a wide/large 1x15 compared to say my old EV TL 15"
But, the PF's are on wheels...

I know this. I HAVE played a PF115, but it was 'in-store', & I really liked the tone, but couldn't, of course, push it to gig levels.
That's what I'm really wondering.
How they handle a fairly good work out.

Yes, the 7Pro sounds fantastic with one PF115, an I can only imagine that things would be even better with two.

As Jimmy said, the tweeter gets in the way of doing this. But here's my suggestion. You'd only use one tweeter anyway, right? So remove the tweeter from one cab, and then the 7Pro will fit! You can still stack the cab with the tweeter on top, since of course there's no issue when the amp is facing "up."

Or you could just carry the head separately I've decided against doing the flip thing with it. 40 years from now when everyone else's cabs have holes in the tolex, I'll be sitting pretty for my retirement because mine have no holes.

LOL, well neither of them will be a golden ticket But I will say that nobody thouht 70's Fender guitars and basses would be collectable and now they are. So you really just don't know.

I have every intention on getting a 7 PRO to go with my 2 PF115s. Thou I like the PF500 I'm currently using, I'm sure I'll love the extra headroom. And these cabs together should be able to handle 900 of the 1000 watts the 7 PRO cranks out. Not too shabby.

When I get it I'll most likely look into a shallow rack instead of dismantling one of my beloved cabs. I think a fliptop of that variety will push 80 lbs...
