So, there is only one handle, correct? How do you actual owners feel about it? Does it feel like the top will come off if you carry it at any type of angle? Easy to schlep?

Anybody have two cabs? How well do they stack? Do you have to take the casters off the top one?

Thanks in advance.

I'm on the fence about the handle....I don't trust those latches 100%. It's not too bad to schlep. I bet they'll add side handles in the future. Liking the amp so far

The handle feels strong to me. With casters on it I don't imagine you'll be carrying it too much. The casters are "quick disconnects". They dont screw into the body. You simply give it a strong tug and the bushing folds and allows them to pop out. Stacking shouldn't be a problem. The rubber feet that come on the bottom of the cab should grip the top of the cab its being stacked on. Also, the cabs aren't very tall. So there's not need to worry about them being wobbly when stacked.

I have a '63, and it weighs considerable more than these light weight PF's when you add up the weight of the tube head with the dolly and the heavier cab itself. It only has one top handle and the old style suitcase latches, and I've never had an issue carrying it around. I really don't see a need for side handles on these new cabs, and the new style latches are just as good - if not better - than the old ones for securing the lid. Mark at Vintage Blue is even using them on his repro cabs as well.

+1 to styles72. Handle seems good and these units are much lighter than vintage B-15.

I think mebusdriver meant a club for the new PF Portaflexes. Or do they qualify for the old club? I'd think not...

Actually that brings me to a point I have been thinking about. The original Portaflex referred to "portable" and "reflex". The new PF series is certainly portable, but the PF 115 and 210 cabs are sealed, not reflex designs. So Portaflex is a misnomer for these new cabs, right?

I'd love to hear from someone out there stacking 2 cabs.

True... though I think nowadays though they look at the term "Portaflex" as being interchangeable with "Fliptop". It's just a name that has an antiquated meaning, kind of like "American Telephone & Telegraph"

I did get the head (PF500) a little over a week ago (maybe 10 days now). I sometimes play a Blues Jam in Wilm. Delware at the World cafe. I was the house bass player when it was at the old venues, and was frequently hosted by David Bromberg. I played last week with this head through a avatar SB112, (8 ohm) and into the board through the DI. We had to Pad the Di and ran it pre eq. The sound guy made it sound like a million bucks. It was easily loud enough for the 200 seat restaurant, and sounded like a great lil bass rig. I really liked it, and had no issues with fan noise, EQ, tone, volume, etc.

that being said, I played Northeast Md last weekend, using an avatar 410. Good tone, but I felt like I was missing some oompf. I am not sure why, because Sat day - outside in Elmer Nj we did a outside job and stage volume sounded really good. Maybe I goosed it a little more? then to close a good weekend - sat night, we played a Am. Legion gig in Dover De. The rig sounded great - full - enough grit, not too much - and filled the hall easily with that same Cab.

I have a Ampeg SVT 410 HLF also, and played thorough it in the garage, but the cab is just too big to haul with my PA and then a guitar rig, in my Scion.

I will eventually get the 2-10 cab for it (portaflex) - I loved the way it sounded in the shop. For now though - these cabs work well with it, and it does what I want. I failed to mention - I used a passive J bass with it. I have several active passes, I want to try one and see how they compare.

I will also try a BBE sonic Stomp in front of it -

That is kind of a partial report, sorry - not a huge amount of detail - but definately four different situations with it. I had no issues, except I missed hauling the 50-60 # heads I have. (yeah - right)

YMMV
