Ampeg Rocket Bass Combos

Yep. No change.

Just a bit of a head-scratcher til I can go see it on Tuesday. They said they have a working one in the shop and they can't tell any difference between the two (which is good in the sense that I hope I'm doing something wrong).

This is a recording I made earlier in the year, interface gain at noon, 5s w/ amp volume at 0, 5s w/ amp volume at max
What noise? I didn't hear any nose. Some really, really quiet background hiss but that is normal. Did I miss something?

Just bought a RB-108 and it’s perfect for college and NFL football watching season. A tweeter would be nice and a DI.

So I needed a standalone combo and I decided to get one of these, I took the speakers out and put in some neo Celestion eight ohm speakers so I could get the full power of the amp. It made the amp lighter and way louder and it handled it. The other thing I wanted to mention from experimenting with it, is if you really want to get the ass from this combo. Turn the grit button down all the way and turn the volume up all the way on the scrambler channel,Run your EQ‘s at flat and this thing just wakes the hell up! I don’t EQ with my eyes I EQ with my ears so I try everything. i’m playing with a full rock band with this thing with ears and it’s all I need now. As far as reliability I have had zero problems with it, once the speakers broke in this thing is punchy and loud as hell. And has the Ampeg Tone, i’m very happy.

Was it the RB112 or RB210?
One can be suspicious since you mention "took the speakers out..." Having 2 speakers can connected either in pararell or series and you change Ohm accordingly. I don't know internally how the speakers in RB210 are wired. RB210 has a horn too, which has to work and gel with whatever else you put in there, but you may not be interested in using it at all. AFAIK no piezo horn where ever present in the original Ampegs anyway, so that one can - basically - be neglected.

If he removed multiple speakers, only the RB-210 has them. The woofers are 16Ω each, connected in parallel, resulting in an 8Ω load. If he replaced them with 8Ω speakers, that would result in 4Ω, pulling maximum power from the amp (while remembering not to connect another cab to the back of the amp). The following block diagram is for the RB-210.

ok thanks. But aren't the speakers in all of them, lightweight Neos already? Albeit by Eminence?

As I understand it, though they are lightweight, they are not neos; otherwise, I’m sure that Ampeg would have mentioned it in the ads and product descriptions for the various amp models. Neo is not mentioned anywhere. Only the RB-112, RB-115, and RB-210 models specify Eminence drivers in the owner’s manual (the same manual is included for all amp models). I attached a copy of the owner’s manual.

I'd love to see the same diagram for the 115.
