Just got one for a great price off Ebay. RevG board though - what are the odds that Ampeg would swap in the RevH board for me?
Got an email response from Yam-peg:
Hi [takeout],
Thanks for writing!
You wouldn't be able to FULLY make a Rev H PCB from a Rev G board, as there was a slight change in the board to accommodate an EOL capacitor, C35; but the only significant change is the Power Management IC.
There are two options. First, you can purchase a new PCB from one of our distributors such as Full Compass or Sweetwater. The part number is 0032543-00.
The other option will be to replace the power management chip U2, with ICE2A265, which can be found at most online electronics suppliers, such as Mouser or Digikey.
So does this mean this is a DIY-able thing? How important is that cap?
Wondering whether or not that chip is socketed, and if not, whether or not it would make sense to make it so...
