Ampeg V4 Club

Bought mine for around 300, played it and finally sent it off for a tune-up and new valves. Intended on selling it but then I plugged and played...I just couldn't do it. It was to awesome soundings. I've used it in various configs, here are some shots. I have a Mesa 400+ and a Blue Line SVT. The V4-B is just to good to let go.

I'm curious, do you always rock a splitter into both inputs? How many of you v4 pimps do the same? I've heard of it but haven't done it.

Also, per the "amp ext" discussion, I've run a cable to a backup Peavy TNT combo that I used to stick behind a previous drummer who never could hear the bass at practice (I blame his cymbal tendencies :hiding:). According to my pops its to be considered a "non-powered signal" out.

Ampegfuzz, can we please get some shots of that white rick poking out of the corner in the bottom photo?

I didn't for a while but then I got my Mesa 400+ and tried it on that, it was great. So I did the same the V4-B and got a terrific tone blend. Try it out you may like it.

Now it's the only way I play mine.

How do you guys like to EQ your V4's? I generaly roll of the low end a fraction and then turn the mids up to about 2 oclock on the high setting. Highs straight up. That's with a two fifteen and a Pbass. I don't change anything when I plug my rick in.

Thats usually what I do - dial the lows back a tad. I typically use mine through a old 2x15 with Beta's, it works good, but it can't take gobs and gobs of super deep low end. :)

I have a 90's V-4B(H) that I used to connect to a new Ampeg 115 cab. But it didn't have the volume I needed. So I bought an old used Mesa Roadready 2x15 cab with EV speakers. Now it is a bit better. Some people complimented me on my bass tone. I wish it would be a bit louder.

36 members in just a couple weeks...that's crazy! Good...now maybe this will demonstrate that the demand is there and gets Ampeg to re-issue the V4B. Love the old stuff but I want a new shiny one ;)

I don't know how far I'd want them to stray from the formula. They're already going to have to use more common tubes. I'd like to see them keep some of the charm of the old one. But I guess if it's implemented well, people would buy it regardless. But I draw the line at installing a DI on it ;)
