I'm currently doing something similar with my Squire VM Jazz. I'm going all black on the hardware and adding a chrome ashtray and PU cover. going to wait until all parts are bought and do it all at once. I'm thinking mid summer.

I ordered a Fender thumbrest on October the 27th on eBay, I still got no thumbrest (I lost the original one when inspecting my pickups). Anyways I've sent him a message to reship.
So mine will take at least a month. (minimum)
Maybe you can punch him in the face Idol.

i pity the foo that dont give brother Rama his thumbrest.
i figure mid next month ill be complete. i put my Fender Deluxe Jazz up for sale on CL because it dosent even get touched anymore. i feel when this is finished this will be my Wife Bass. the sooner it gets finished the better ill feel

250K solid shaft CTS pots w/orange drops just showed up. knobs should be in within the next 2 days or so and the pearloid PG ships tomorrow (although im really having second thoughts of using it) I'll be working on de-shining the finish here soon as well. its all coming together.

Though I do agree, that plain white guard is classy, full of mojo, I'd be hard pushed too, in fact, I'd probably go with white, I think....

I'd have to put the thumbrest in the more userfriendly place though, even if it isn't vintage correct.
