Any DIY pedal builders on TB? Strut your stuff!

I'd not heard of PLL's until I saw all of @ficelles builds not long ago and I did some research in to them then. If anyone can tell you their use here it's probably them. After looking in to the different versions I thought of it more as a weird kind of pet-project that would be more fun to build and play with than something that would actually be musically useful in a song or band setting.

Typically my experience with PLLs is in a more typical use where you use a reference frequency to synthesis a very closely phase aligned signal which can be a multiple of the input frequency. ie, you can use like a 1MHz input clock to generate a zero skew (little to no phase offset) output clock with a frequency that can be divide by 2,4,6 ect or multiple by 2,4,6 or even the same frequency as the input. Often used in digital systems to generate multiple zero skew clock signals for various digital devices.

My favorite setting while testing had the octave fuzz dialed out, leaving a booming bass fuzz. The octave tones can easily smother the low end and pale in comparison to the extreme octave tones of the Prunes & Custard clone I recently built.
Painted silver, black and white inspired by scrambled analog television snow.

It's 5am, broadcasting has long desisted and even the test signal has just cut out, now replaced by visual and digital snow — SCTV is OFF the air...

Great realisation of a cool concept, G. Did you mask and paint over then remove the mask for the lettering? Or did you paint the lettering over the snow? It's like a light dusting of real snow on a windshield and a finger used to write in it.

Your etch looks great! Which knobs do you prefer? The 1900 is probably my all-time favourite, they look great and I often need their space-saving abilities; For your Dunwich tribute, though, I thing the 1470 is the bomb.





Yesterday a friend and I went all over HK picking up bits and pieces for a couple of amp builds, 5 different places literally all over hell and gone (stupid heat wave!). He's wrapping up a 5F6 Bassman and I'm launching into a 5E3 Tweed — so, piggybacking amp bits I finally managed to get some missing pieces for my current pedal build as well. Got in late, crashed — Just woke up, 6am, with a fresh set of eyes on the pedal build and realised — I still forgot some resistor sizes I needed amidst all the amp distractions. Teensy 1590A-OK resistors vs gargantua-Wattage what-have-you...

Picked up a few cool size-XL pedal enclosures though; and found a source for enclosed jacks that are WAY more robust than the Tayda boxers and same-as-Tayda from another local shop. Better than the Switchcraft I was going to use for the amp-build, so into the 5E3 they went — I'm not a vintage-period correct type, I'd rather there's a blown 351-Windsor in my Model A than the original 4-banger.

I typically prefer the 1900s as well but the cheapo knockoffs I have wouldnt work right without filing the set screw down a little. I have a bunch of the 1470s left over from an animato clone build so I popped them on there an thought they looked pretty good so I went with it.
Nice on the amp building. Thats a whole other level. good luck on the project'

PLLs are glitchy and somewhat random things with stringed instruments, although fun imho. But ages ago when I had a set of analog bass pedals that put out a nice clean sine/whatever wave I stuck it through the PLL pedal I had at the time and the result was awesome. Glitchy suddenly turns into perfect tracking and the depth of sound is astonishing. Almost makes you want to become a keyboard player

Lettering was brushed on last in the same black as the snow. I painted many light layers to give 3Dimensional depth, so no one color appears on top. Each color has two coats:
Spray primer white -> acrylic silver -> black -> white -> silver -> black -> brush lettering -> spray clear coat.

So ... complete opposite what I thought: Silver and white snow painted onto a black enclosure, but it's actually a silver/white enclosure with black painted on to it to get the snow effect.

This is why I'm not an artist, I can't think laterally like you do. I'm going to have to try experimenting with a few of your finishes, though, and that's gonna be challenging but potentially a lot of fun. If I botch it up too much I'll just hit it with a coat of durotex or something.

Painting letters with a brush continues to challenge me. I botched one recently on the second stroke, tried to wipe it off with a wet paper towel and botched that too beyond repair. Had to scrape several layers of acrylic off back down to the primer and start over

I really appreciate having beta testers for these new boards, especially given how many balls I have in the air right at the moment.

It's a simple delay pedal built with a cheap little PT2399 module and a fet buffer. The artwork was adapted from a coffee cup.

Aionfx Egyptian Gods of the Underworld duo; Anubis & Osiris.
Anubis is a Basic Audio Scarab Deluxe clone, a silicon Tonebender mk.II derivative with extra tone controls. I've built two germanium TB mk.II's and they are amongst my favorite fuzzes. So I wanted a silicon one loaded with features and Anubis delivers... one way passage to the underworld.

Osiris is a Black Arts Toneworks Pharaoh clone, a Big Muff derivative with germanium diode clipping and extra tone controls. This is my 5th Muff variant build and I wanted one with diode clipping options. After trying out ge clipping mode, I prefer stock si clipping more. I did like how the High & Tone controls work together for creating a mid-scooped tone.

Anubis is on the left, paint metallic blue with a little high gloss blue.
Osiris is on the right, painted metallic red with a little metallic blue.
Modded the drill template on both to have side jacks without batteries. Modded the coupling caps on the Anubis from 100nF to 150nF.

And here's my Sunn Beta Bass Preamp, on an Effects Layouts PCB. There's a charge pump delivering +/- 15V. Modified Sunn O)) gig poster used for graphics.

I can happily confirm the claims of the build doc: it sounds absolutely fantastic!
