Very interesting your findings on the Engineer's thumb builds. I've got the JMK version and was going to leave it at that, but if I ever manage to catch up it'd be cool to do some comparisons as you have.
Speaking of comparisons — I've got the Aion HM2, definitely going to get the Dunwich one, too.

Get on it! Do just the resistors, today! You can double-check your work on them tomorrow, and then tackle the next tallest component, a bit per day and work your way up to the big electrolytics ...
@G.Bisson Beware of false "Buffered" chips. I keep ordering from different places that each assure me they are selling me buffered 4049; All I can tell you is my collection of UNbuffered chips has grown exponentially and that I still have yet to find a source for the damned UNICORN-BUFFERed chips.
I like the 4049ube, but it's getting ridiculous — I've got a GREAT BIG list of UBE-builds if any of you are looking for ways to deplete your stockpile of 4049ube...
Please let me know if you're able to score any buffered versions. I've still gotta make that dual Great Destroyer — it uses both sides of the chip instead of just one. Waste not & what not.
@Fuzzonaut Have you checked out Music From Outer Space (MFOS)? There's the Noise Toaster PCB, and the MFOS Alien Screamer has a vero-layout kicking around the Net. It's NOT a Tube-Screamer.
There's a couple of cool-but-Pricey projects from the guy that does the Tune-in-Tokyo (I'm going to get the PCB, but there's vero layout for TiT, too. Tune in Tokyo | Rare Waves
Grendel Drone Commander, but I think it was the Hydronium that caught my attention (after the TiTokyo) IIRC.
Check out 4MS Noise Swash, if you haven't already:

Still haven't managed to get to my local shop. Ran out of 22k 1/8w and it's for another tight build so I don't want to use 1/4w or resort to resisters in series.
So that's given me time to rethink my DOD FX25 project (Madbean Flunkee)... I'm planning on adding a clean blend, and what I'd like to know is:
1) Does the 13700 invert phase?
2) On the clean blend, what LPF corner frequency would you shoot for ? 1600Hz, 800Hz?
I asked over at Madbean, but have only one response so far...

Doesn't that depend on how you use the op-amps? Each one has + and - pins...
Looking at the flunkee schematic I'd say maybe it does invert the way they've used the 13700, but I'm probably not the right person to answer

Right you are.
The FX25/Flunkee schematic shows all non-inverting op-amps, but I've read elsewhere on TB that the FX25 inverts. So I checked the data sheet and I'm not sure what's going on with the in/out buffers in the 13700 — verro over at Madbean said it's non-inverting and pointed out that buffers don't invert.
Well, I'll just build it w/o breadboarding, if it sucks I can snip out the few bits that make up the buffnblend.
It's already a tight squeeze, but if I'm able to include a clean blend on the Flunkee for 1590A, that'd be sweet. Not sure there's room for even one more R/C to get a LPF going, but ...
Suggestions for a corner freq on the clean blend?
BTW, I tagged you over at PPCB, somebody is looking for feedback on the Engineer's Thumb build there.

Oh my, thanks for all that info, @Feral Feline ... I'm going to stroll through all this with pleasure. I do know the MFOS stuff, I have had a Weird Sound Generator for ages now (built by DIRGE though), great box! Noise Swash seems to be right up my alley too .... and I remember having seen Moody stuff before ...

Just finished up my PedalPCB Mini Heterodyne Receiver. Now I get to figure out how to use the darn thing....

Anyone else ever build one of these? It has an insane amount of output, and I'm wondering what the heck I'm going to use it (the effect itself) for. I hate to say it, but this might be one that sits and doesn't get used a lot.
On the other hand, I'm still really digging this Spirit Box Reverb.
I've built the big one ... and added 2 mods: one of them tames the madness a bit (add toggle switch). If you want to add that, let me know, although there is not much room left in there.
As for using it: Well, it's a PLL thing, ..... I had it on my board for a while, purely as a crazy noise maker ... but it ended up on a friends table top set up where it mangles a drone synth and also acts as a sound source by itself.
I have the full one built but not boxed up. I was planning on using it more with synths than bass. I imagine it'll be pretty fun with my Microbrute.

I watched a video on YouTube with one and thought 'that's cool'. I feel misled. It's cool in a way, it's just not what I was expecting.
I'd not heard of PLL's until I saw all of @ficelles builds not long ago and I did some research in to them then. If anyone can tell you their use here it's probably them. After looking in to the different versions I thought of it more as a weird kind of pet-project that would be more fun to build and play with than something that would actually be musically useful in a song or band setting.

Assuming he and you are the first two to finish it, once its be built twice I will officially announce.
