Any DIY pedal builders on TB? Strut your stuff!

My latest fun box. Had some pcbs made. This one is fun. All kinds of great sounds to be had. You can get lost for hours twiddling knobs. Not really a gut shot , more like before and after.

Elk Super Fuzz Sustainar (which is a modified big muff) in an etched 1590B w/all top jacks & a relayed true bypass. i also added a mids switch to have the option of it having a bit more mids (down position)

a quick short sound clip of it. the setting was clean, then engaged, and then engaged with the mid switch. sustain at 2:00, tone at 1:00:

Okay great, we'll I'll try to keep it short. I have a fuzz pedal with more volume on tap than I want. It also fuzzes differently depending on where I set my bass' volume, but I don't want to subject all the pedals to those volume changes (I have 2 parallel loops). I'd like to make a pedal to attenuate both the input and output volumes of the fuzz pedal, and then use the pedal's own volume control as a maximum level limiter. I'm wondering which pot values could work for the input and output sides, or if doing this passively is not a great idea. My bass is passive, and the signal splitter, which is first in the pedal chain, says it has a buffer for each loop, but I imagine the buffers come after the loop returns. Any advise or recommendations is much appreciated. Thanks!

Put it on a loop with a Boss LS2.
Or add a 50k pot wired as a variable resistor at the input of the pedal like a Sunface. Can also be a trimpot.

Of course it will Always distort more or less depending on your bass volume.

What fuzz pedal do you have? is it a one knob with no volume control? You say it fuzzes differently depending on where I set my bass' volume. I would think that attenuating the input volume would have the same effect as turning your bass down. Maybe I'm missing something. As Andare suggested , a LS2 would be useful. There are some others out there as well, Damnation Bloop, Broughton FFXL. Old Blood Noise Endevors signal blender .ect..
On a DIY side you could check out Tagboard effect or Dirtbox layouts and look under utilities. I know on Dirt Box layouts he has a stripboard layout for a JMK Paralyzer which is essentially a loop blender. It has 1 input , 1 output and 2 sends and 2 returns with a blend pot to blend between the 2 loops. Not sure if this helps , just thowing it out there.

I think the setup sounds more confusing than it is. I’m including an image below. The KMA Tyler is the looper utility with a high pass loop and a low pass loop. The volume balance is via the big MN pot in the center. The witchfinder’s volume is at unity around 8 o’clock, so it’s hard to dial in without adding a ton of boost. I’d like to set it around noon and use an external volume pedal to have more control over the volume without sweating over a couple degrees on the existing knob or the loopers MN pot.

Similarly, I like the swamp lord with my bass’ volume maxed, but it would be nice to be able to trim the witchfinder’s input volume to get some different flavors.

So I’m looking for useful pot values to attenuate the volume between the looper’s send and the witchfinder in, and then between the witchfinder out and the looper’s return. Hope that clarifies. Thanks again

Before I move on from my recent handful of builds for friends and family I decided to try something a bit more out there graphically. I'm not really big on the cartoonish look for the most part but I figured it was time to start getting a feel for how to get there for those who swing that way. Amplifyfun was super easy to deal with again, and really really fast to boot.

I bought the kit sometime last year, but havent gotten all the mods I wanted to do done yet. During a basic test, it sounded pretty good, but there were quite a few settings that were lacking. More time tweaking would probably have given me better results.
Still a cool pedal.

Edit: I have a huge headache.... did I answer the question?
Worth it? If you like a larger than average build and a lot of knobs to tweak, it's a 8/10. Theres better filters, but as a build this is pretty good. I also did a PedalPCB DOD 440 reissue, sounded pretty similar as far as the basic filter settings. Still not as nice as my store bought Emma Discumbobulator.

So I thought it would be fun to dig out everything I have built since starting this endless journey. This doesn’t include what is cluttering my bench and not boxed up yet. 4 of these were from either from a kit or a bought PCB.
All the rest are either stripboard or PCB by me. There are about 4 or 5 that didn’t make the pic, they are out on loan. Honestly it feels like I have made a lot more, lol.
