Any DIY pedal builders on TB? Strut your stuff!

Before I move on from my recent handful of builds for friends and family I decided to try something a bit more out there graphically. I'm not really big on the cartoonish look for the most part but I figured it was time to start getting a feel for how to get there for those who swing that way. Amplifyfun was super easy to deal with again, and really really fast to boot.

Yeah, I would have put a little more effort into my part of that had I realized what a great job Spencer would do. But for a first try at something like this I'm very happy with how they came out, for sure.

Also on my build list is Baja’s take on a limiter based on the La2a …. He uses a yellow LED and a LDR with a resistance of 90ohms… But after a whole evening spent looking at spec sheets for LDR I have no idea even the madbean version of the same circuit doesn’t have a clue.
Before I dealvevinto the big bad world of posting on freestonpboxes again….

Any clues folks who’ve made something similar?

no specs to try and find the same thing in Europe though.

Ah I ordered anyway got a few and the ICs, take a few weeks to get here! I think I have seen you had build Baja’s design or similar, did you ever try adding the limiter/compressor switch you find on the LA2A to it at all? Looks like it just bypasses the 2k7 resistor before the LDR

Honestly, just use a Source Audio Spectrum with a meatball patch. Actual meatballs are notoriously fickle.

I have that problem from time to time. When that happens I usually pick up my bass and play around with what I have built. Sometimes I will ask a friend if there is anything they would like to have. Lately I have been getting interested in filters.

No problems for me with running out of builds. I find new things I'd like to try faster than I can build anything.

I went ahead and got the components for a passive pedal to attenuate both the input and output volumes of my Witchfinder. I have a few different values of pots to try, so hopefully I find something that works. At least it looks good.

Hoping someone in here my of some insight for me!

I was perusing local Craigslist today when I saw an ad for someone getting rid of a DS-1 for $25. I figured why not, I'd never owned one.
I drove over and when I got there the gentleman handed me a brand new looking DS-1. Cool. He apologized that he didn't check to see if it worked before he listed it.
He said the LED wasn't turning on and to just take it. If it started working with a different power supply I could Venmo him.

I got it home, plugged cables into the input and outputs, and ran power from my Walrus PS.

LED comes on. Cool! Except no bypass signal. It only work when the pedal is engaged. Huh...OK.

I flip it over, its an earlier made in Taiwan model. I decided to open it up and poke around a little.
To my surprise it's a through-hole model. What struck me as odd as the bottom backing plate didn't have anything between the backplate and the board, just a raw metal against the board. I can't recall if my other Boss pedals are like that but it seemed off.

I futzed around with it for a while more, trying a new 9v battery in place of a power supply (works when engaged but not when bypassed). When putting the back plate back on there was a spark. Clean signal! But only for a moment. By the time I strummed a few chords and flipped it over it was back to working but only when bypassed.

Nothing looks obviously fried to the layperson but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ .

Any insight? I'd love to get this thing working but techs are in short supply here in SF and have a bench fee of $75.
