The first four won't work as "cash here and now" for many people. They are also laden with opportunities to get scammed by a potential buyer - TB far less than others - but anything involving PreyPal is a risk nowadays.

Goodwill only accepts donations AFAIK, I haven't heard about them buying gear outright.

Of course you would. As would I. But how does the imaginary seller reach you or me? And- just as important - how does our $$$ reach him?

That's one aspect that many people will miss with temporary GC closures. I don't foresee them going out of business, though.

well, all I can say is....whether the economy tanks and basses get cheaper to buy means nothing to me if my Canadian Dollar, which is tanking down to $0.68 to your US Dollar right now, and we're just at the beginning of this Covid-19 virus, meaning my Canadian Dollar will be worthless soon....I doubt I'll be buying anything at all for a while.

We're in for a worldwide recession. Lot's of companies will go broke. Boutique bass makers are likely to shut up shop - maybe discount current stock to keep the wolf from the door. Big 'uns like Fender will just slow production.

Christmas 2009 I purchased an Epiphone LP LTD 1959 demo ( #215 of 1959 produced) a Vibro-Champ amp and a TKL case, out the door for $589. The original case and candy probably disapeared from the storeroom. It was GC Nashville's huge Christmas sale and very few people showed up, more staff than customers. My wife was doing an art show in the Grand Old Oprey Hotel and barely covered expenses for the 10 or 12 days we were there. Even Gruhns was sparse. So my thinking is, yes guitars will be available at pretty spectacular pricing.

Actually I think pawn shops will be doing a land office business any day now. Before they run out of money to buy then close.
I personally feel this is the nail in the coffin for live music as we know it. People will be afraid to leave their homes for a very long time. I'm thinking over a year or two or more. I believe this is an unprecedented event very much like a world war affecting every single person on the planet. The kind of event that resembles the European diseases brought to the new world of the Americas that virtually wiped out entire native populations. I am praying I'm wrong.
As much as I hate the term, this is already an enormous Paradigm Shift that continues on to an as yet unknown and very much uncertain reality. I have never been as apprehensive about my own future survival. Financially I'm ruined already. I'd hardly call even my few valuable basses worth anything other than a short term stop gap between now and homelessness. I'm more concerned about my physical survival. Please stay home. Stay healthy. I won't be surprised when things like understaffed businesses, services, websites, etc. go down.
