At some of those prices, I'm tempted to list mine too!
I low balled an eBay seller for a new Vintage V4 P bass fully expecting to be shot down, but he accepted and now I have a new bass. The current climate probably means retailers are keen to get what they can.
Who thinks significant the gigs, now it's the main home training.
From looking at the classifieds, there are some good deals, but there are a lot of wishful pricing even in great economic times.
I just bought a brand new bass. I got a great deal. American original P bass. They go for $1950 new. I got mine for $1680 shipped. Not bad. I definitely think smaller shops are feeling the squeeze.
On the other end, I’m trying to sell a bass also. A beautiful fretless 1998 stingray. I have it down to $1400 shipped here on TB. I’m amazed no one has bought it yet. I can’t go lower but I also don’t mind keeping it for now. Fortunately I still have my job. But someone will get a great deal. I guess fellow members on here are feeling the squeeze too unfortunately.
Yeah I have a guitar and a reverb tank listed but one low ball offer is all I got. I will wait.
A friend gave me a great deal on a very nice bass. Maybe a year later he asked if I might sell it back. I did, happily. It really doesn't have to be complicated. Do I miss it? It was a very sweet bass that I wouldn't have minded keeping... but knowing it's back home I have no regrets.

Seen it before. Didn't pull the trigger. Then again I got my NAMM Show Marleaux Jazz for $1,200 used.
Man that's wild. That's one bass I always have my eye out for even though there are only a few out there. Love the Marleaux stuff!
I just got nice Ibanez Premium SR1400 from Reverb for a good price so I'm good.

It's anecdotal but I'm seeing a lot more stuff listed for sale in Facebook groups, etc - often citing the need to sell due to current conditions. That seems likely to continue and I do remember the hit in values that vintage instruments took back in 2008 and it took some time for those to recover (which they did). I had a '59 P bass for sale prior to this (on consignment with a shop) which just sold earlier this week for full market value - I count myself lucky on that!
I’m sure there are deals out there somewhere, but All the items I’m watching sell on EBay are still in “normal pricing” range.

Recording gear isn’t getting any cheaper at all. (You guys had my hopes up for a split second)
The synthesizers I’ve been watching aren’t actually selling any lower than they have recently before this started, but there do appear to be one or two people who are now willing to accept market price for them.
I just looked up sales of Ernie Ball Stingrays - absolutely zero change in sale prices.
Search for P bass - yeah pricing is all still in line.
Even if musicians who rely on gig money to live can’t buy now, there are a ton of people with day jobs stuck at home trying to distract themselves. I don’t think gigging musicians can necessarily afford as much gear as we’d all like even in the best of times, but it appears someone with a day job might.

If you're waiting for some broke souls to post great deals on great instruments...be vigilant...and be patient...I'm thinking summer...
